Golden age hip-hop was definitely a great time for the genre even though I wasn't alive to expeience it like I was with the rise and prominence of gangsta rap. Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, all of the Juice Crew like Big Daddy Kane and Marly Marl, BDP and KRS-One all of 'em came to be in the golden age. It might be some pretty basic ****, but most of it is still influencing even modern experimental hip-hop groups like Death Grips and Shabazz Palaces today. Golden Age is where hip-hop took flight and sort of took that step beyond Grandmaster Flash.
