If we wanna discuss "What is a classic?", we can bring up other factors. But that isn't the discussion in this thread.
You're absolutely entitled to believe that, and I can assure you that I follow the topic and how it relates to what I post.

When we're talking about best discographies, how many bad or mediocre albums can an artist drop? That's why I didn't add artists like Billy Woods since his early material is meh.
I don't think that we're going anywhere with this, so all I'll say is that I was merely using it an objective source to support that other artists mentioned by other members have received more critical acclaim from other independent sources. Like I said before, it's mostly for the sake of keeping an open and honest discussion that doesn't become a few people telling other folks that their pick isn't as good as El-P. I hope that's understandable.

Well obviously, otherwise we wouldn't be talking so much about El-P.

The irony is that the merit of what MB will consider the best hip hop discography is based purely on the popularity of it on MB.

Unless he's making the case that this thread is about our own personal picks for best discography which in no way does it seem to be. Seems to be a discussion to find which discography we all find to be the best in which case if you are not part of the echo chamber your opinion will not matter.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

We can't have too many people feeling comfortable with just a few music opinions, though, can we? I could see if this was an El-P forum, but since it's just general music I think we should be at our best when we step out of that comfort zone.

Underrated discography that I don't think has been mentioned yet - Japanese turntablist/producer DJ Krush. I haven't listened to his albums after Jaku as extensively, but I've been meaning to give them a try since his first 6 albums are excellent.

actually it’s pretty similar to people who think Tech N9ne is really good
I wouldn't include him in this discussion, but the "shock value" **** is some of the lowest quality content he produces.. Industrial Revolution, Leaving the Past, and You Never Know all come to mind.

What do I know though? I think Doom is whack, El-P is boring as ****, and not a fan of RTJ. Okay, that's harsh, but I am no where near as much into any of them as most of the people on MB.

Also, @Lucem, Idk how you can say Aesop is predictable.. All his albums have a nice mix of variety and lyrical content.

His delivery and beat choices are very much the same. Expect boombap hip hop with basic back packer flows. His lyrical content is not as predictable, but I think music matters as much as lyrics. Predictable isn't always a determent though, as Sadistik's catalog is flawless to me and much more predictable.
