BROCKHAMPTON - iridescence
Hip hop record of the year son
|
How does it compare to the Saturation series? Does this one have some kind of identity at least? Their albums are better approached as compilations imo.
|
It’s a crazy psychedelic collage
Goddamn Cagian even 10/10 |
"collage" = no identity yet I'm guessing. Thanky.
|
Yeah I mean as far as I’m concerned **** having a coherent identity - it’s not jazz
Not trying to start an argument I just think the random chaos of it just makes it better Even if you don’t necessarily agree I’m sure you can relate |
It can, but in my experience with the group, the randomness tends to leave me momentarily interested, then largely disappointed. Maybe this album cuts the filler as opposed to their other three? Idk, maybe a vet can follow up on that.
|
This is all meat no filler
Listen to it **** |

I’ve only really gotten into them from their videos on youtube before this So I can’t know if I’ll agree the three you’re talking about have what I would consider filler or not All I know is I listened to this one at work today and loved it so much It was like I wanted to stop and hug everyone at work and tell them 2018 finally has a hip hop masterpiece |

One of them might have told you about the mew Quelle Chris record. I agree that it's been a lackluster year for hip hop.

Lupe Fiasco's Drogas Wave is this years masterpiece.

Nas?

No sarcasm I am a little butthurt you don’t care more about my opinions
I mean goddamn |
I do care about your taste, that's why I didn't recommend an album you said you didn't like.
|
I don’t remember commenting on that one. I can’t find a post.
I remember that record but yeah I mean barely Do you have a what I wrote about it ? |

Liking hip hop for it's more fun side isn't a bad thing. I say that there's room for both and if you don't agree then it's cool. Just own it. Also I'm more of a 5 star off bitch kinda guy. I'm picky like that. |

There are exceptions like Jay Z I do think there’s an oil and water thing The interesting sonic landscapes are born from wildness again too ADHD was so good then it was like instead of staying good he grew up KRS-One grew up and sucked Quote:
I’ll listen to it next week along with Lucem’s thing and the other brockhamptons Was yellow flower Tyler album this year or last year? He grew up a little but like it worked I got some listening to do |
Lupe's album is long, and I hate long albums, but I think his album was worth the length.
But Lupe at his best is the type of rapper where you have to research or look into ****, think about it to fully appreciate it. (Though you don't need to for it to be a good album). I sunk myself into a rabbit hole thinking on the name and the skit where the preacher says "Don't mess up the kids" makes me think of mumble rappers and how some songs on the album and in Lupe's past work talks about hip hop smuggling drugs like the past generation of rappers talked about selling drugs all the time now the new generation talks about doing drugs. Like the past generation made money off of making the kids drug addicts thus they messed up the kids and created a wave of drug addicted hip hop. So in a way the new wave of hip hop is a Drogas Wave. |
Maturity and hip hop don’t mix. not a bad saying.

I also listened to the first BH in that trilogy, Frown, and I think the new record is more fragmented not less. BH is hip hop that incorporates the sounds of psychedelic electroacoustic tape music into party music. It’s taking the work of cage and Luc Ferrari and building on that tradition They don’t know they’re doing that and that makes it even more amazing The new BH stands way above y’all’s recs Not even close - not for fun and not artistically either |

Great track. Only listened to about half of the album (because of time, not the album) but I'm kind of thinking 6 or 7/10 so far. Will report back. |
I listened to part 2 of the trilogy and loved it so much
It’s going to take some effort to explain why this is so exciting to me It just has an energy and attitude and obviously a sound I really really like |
Greatest boy band on earth |

For a hip-hop boy band, they're okay. And if anyone tries to compare them to Wu-Tang, I'm blocking them.
|
wow the kid even rapped yelling on the ground... a lot of emotion in that group. why a boy band and not just a rap group? ****s way better than those mumble rappers by far
i like a few songs from their albums on spotify. this newest album, i checked it out. wasnt into it. i think you need to be a fan of theirs already for this newest album because i didnt get much replay value from it. |
I ****ing fell in love with it first listen.
