google "The Ohms" they are a phenominal Reggae/Rock/Dancehall/Ska band from Cincinnati Ohio and they are on the rise.

they have played with Steel Pulse, SOJA, Pato Banton, Badfish, 40 oz to Freedom and many more and their vocals and message is very positive and uplifting

for fans of: Sublime, Slighty Stoopid, Pepper, Rebelution, SOJA, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Damian Marley, Steel Pulse, Operation Ivy, The Pilfers....ect

It's very disjointed and sporadic, but it has some good songs on it. I wouldn't really own the physical copy personally.

What about Badfish? They're a tribute band to Sublime, I think they're performing at the Brooklyn Bowl this friday, and headlining the garden grove festival later on this summer

Or maybe give the Dirty Heads a shot. unless of course you're here to just plug Bad Fish.

These guys occupy a curious place in Musical history. Because they blew up post-mortem they have a "I was there" culture around them. I don't know how to put my finger on it but they seem to be, all things considered, a rolled up version of

The Doors
The Greatful Dead
Joplin and
the early days of death row records

all in one.

Keen observation. I'd add "teenybopper reggae" to your list as well.

Sublime are a band that always seem to arouse a lot of anger when discussed online. I'm not sure if it's because of a "frat boy-smoking weed is so cool" stereotype in America or something? Probably mixed in with "not being real ska" and "not being real anything", not being brilliant musicians, having some poppy hits and setting a trend for all the other poppy/punk/ska hybrids . In the UK they don't get any airplay, not sure if they ever did as I only really got into them about 5 years ago.

I like em though, Santeria is a great tune and I really like Caress Me Down They have some tidy covers that introduced me to some proper ska/reggae artists, thought Nowell had talent, even if he gets a little bit too much attention-it's just like any other artist that dies at the height of their fame I guess.

Sublime is one of my biggest inspirations, they had such a unique sound and overall feeling to their music. They were a big reason for me becoming a musician when I was a wee lad.
