Less Than Jake

There may already be less than jake threads, but what the heck.

Less Than Jake is a ska-driven pop-punk band that makes great music. Check them out, if you havent.

Muzak 06-04-2006 04:27 PM

Still need to get the new album...

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-04-2006 04:33 PM

no, you really dont.

yes, i do have an exceedingly closed mind when it comes to less than jake.
& im also quite comfortable with it.

Uglycasanova 06-04-2006 04:36 PM

aaahhhhh....less than jake was such a great band but their new album is horrible...were did all their ska talent go?

GI germs 06-04-2006 04:59 PM

eh, they have their ups and downs.

Spittin' Willie 06-16-2006 07:46 PM

The only album you should ever listen to is Hello Rockview.

EDGE 06-26-2006 02:22 PM

I was never a fan.

one_more_atrocity 06-26-2006 02:25 PM

I concur.

bungalow 06-30-2006 12:49 AM

I despise this band.
They held up Maylene for like 20 minutes.

And they suck.

[MERIT] 12-23-2006 12:00 PM

*bump*

Im not really one for ska usually, but I love this band. My favorites are "Sugar in your gas tank" and "The science of selling yourself short." Can someone recommend some similar bands (and please dont say Reely Big Fish).

littleknowitall 12-24-2006 01:47 PM

I havent actually listened to anything by this band in 3 years and i really liked them too,. *goes to download*

StopThief 05-27-2008 10:12 AM

Bueno

Loser 05-27-2008 10:04 PM

I actually really like LTJ's music. "Overrated" and "The Science Of Selling Yourself Short" are all great songs, with great vibes. I always sing along to them everytime I hear them. They're not my favorite ska band, but they'r eup there. I think what they do, especially in today's music world is more unique than other bands.

Kevorkian Logic 05-28-2008 03:18 PM

ehh, I liked them in 8th grade. Now I can barely tolerate them.

Ballin by Nature 05-30-2008 06:07 PM

Used to like this band alot, but some of their newer stuff have strayed me away

Still love and listen to Losing Streak...really the only CD I like from them.

Civic Depreciator 05-30-2008 06:14 PM

This is a rock band.

Yeah, their newer stuff has been either mediocre or bad with the exception of Hello Rockview and Anthem. Losing Streak is my favorite as well. You should try Pezcore and Losers, Kings, and Things We Don't Understand. Both of those are almost as good as Losing Streak.

Not a Ska band?

Speler 05-30-2008 08:17 PM

Less Than Jake certainly considers themselves ska and they at least have a heavy ska influence, though they are certainly not a traditional ska band. There earlier material was all ska/punk and there newer material is pop-punk. They appear to be working on another ska/punk album at the moment.

It won't be as good as the earlier ska/punk albums. I thjink like you said, the newer stuff is alot more pop punk-ish, I think once you turn pop punk, you can never go back to your roots.

Muzak 05-31-2008 09:10 PM

They definitely were Ska punk in their earlier albums, but their last two albums were really pop punk with minor ska parts and really sparing use of their horn players. As pop punk they weren't that bad really. Hopefully though they turn back to a ska punk style in their upcoming album.

Definitely would agree with that. I was a little disappointed at the lack of horns in the last few albums, but I can't say it was bad. Heard snippets of the new album, hopefully it'll be good, especially since they're not with Warner Brothers anymore.

Loser 06-15-2008 03:04 PM

I used to have their Anthem album....I have no clue what happned to it, any help?

dbdpromo 06-16-2008 08:58 AM

I bought it on iTunes a few years ago....other than that, ya got me.

austinsaysmeow 08-13-2008 11:12 AM

man they were awsome before they got big.

that sounds like such a cliche statement but its true to me

slim slow slider 09-08-2008 03:49 PM

Sorry, I'm not really into this particular genra. However, I was wondering, is Less than Jake the same band that did that song "sell out" like 10 years ago?

that would be Reel Big Fish. A very good band IMO.

so I have the new album GNV FLA and I have to say its quite awesome. A lot more ska punk and Handshake Meets Pokerface is now one of my favorite Less Than Jake songs.

RockGuitar101 09-25-2008 09:52 PM

Speler 10-03-2008 03:27 PM

My favorite of there albums are Losing Streak and Hello Rockview. I'm not that big a fan of Anthem, though it has some good tracks.

What's with the GNV FLA hate? I thought it was pretty good.

FaSho 10-03-2008 06:24 PM

Hello Rockview is the best...Anthem is a close second

Muzak 10-04-2008 11:41 AM

Losing Streak
Pezcore
Hello Rockview
GNV FLA
Anthem
In With the Out Crowd

FaSho 10-04-2008 03:43 PM
