Im definetly gunna say Germany..all the people ive met through exchanges into our school loved reggae..i keep in touch with 2 of them and they're alwats talking about the Reggae festivals around

It seems you aren't familiar with the likes of The Herbs, Katchafire and The Black Keys that have been hugely popular not to mention the huge amount of lesser known bands around now and since the 80s. Reggae has a huge following in New Zealand.

Yes I am familiar with those bands. And many many more.

But honestly. Our music scene at this point in time, Consists of Rap/Rock/Emo And Pop.

The only "Reggae" band doing anything at the moment are Fat Freddie's Drop, and they're not really Reggae.

So yes. I do know what I'm talking about.

From what you just posted i'd be inclined to think you don't.

You can be inclined to think whatever you like.

But the simple fact remains is that, in comparison, New Zealand's music scene is Pre-Historic...and the soon-to-be-screened M.T.V wont help it at all.

England is definitely up there....having spent a bit of time in Brighton, it seemed like there was a reggae/dub/ska band playing every single night, if you cared to go. Although it seems to have an awesome music scene for any genre, really.

In the part of Canada I hail from--B.C, and the kootenays in paricular--reggae and the like are really, really popular, but it could be an isolated thing.

Gentleman and Bob Marley made Raggea really popular here in Germany.
Also Seeed with their Dancehall music influenced by Raggea have to be mentioned.
Bob Marley was also absolutely popular here. Shaggy, Ky-Mani Marley, Dellé, Peter Fox, Jan Delay, Riddim Posse, Nosliv, Ayo are just a few raggae artists, who are German or visited Germany many times.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the US. I would guess Britain has the biggest scene judging from the many ska bands that have come from there, but artists like Marley, Tosh, Black Uhuru have had their own followings in the US. Let's face it; reggae is pretty well global. :)
