10 ft. Ganja Plant

Time for me to recommend another band that no one will listen to! The name alone is worth the admission price. They alternate between Dub and Reggae and hail from Hawaii. I like them and you should too.

R U sure about your facts about them being from hawaii? 10ft. GP is actually a side project of some of the members of John Brown's Body who are from Boston via Ithaca, NY, my home town

jackhammer 01-11-2008 10:05 AM

My Space=liars lol.

SATCHMO 01-11-2008 10:08 AM

I know Das' right!

jackhammer 01-11-2008 10:16 AM

Recommend John Brown's Body at all?

SATCHMO 01-11-2008 10:17 AM

F**k Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jackhammer 01-11-2008 11:11 AM

I can't find any :(

SATCHMO 01-11-2008 11:20 AM

Yeah, unfortunately that seems 2b a problem sometimes

jackhammer 07-18-2008 04:42 PM

I am exploring their discography backwards and each release gets better and better. Their Roots Reggae and dub influences are perfectly complimented by the natural Horn work. 'Midnight Landing' is one of the most 'pure' Reggae albums I have heard in a while:

^no sound from that video. :(

SATCHMO 07-19-2008 02:10 PM

Really long intro and the sound quality is not all that, but its a great example of the JBB live experience

just worked for me!

Dr_Rez 07-19-2008 09:18 PM

Great band, and probably my favorite Dub band name ever.

ckaweeks 02-25-2009 12:32 AM

10 ft. ganja plant kills. JBB is just masterminds with their music. is there a JBB thread?

Bulldog 03-01-2009 01:23 AM

^ You could always start one? I'd never heard of JBB before I popped back in this forum for old time's sake, so if someone who knows them got a thread going that'd be swell.

I do know that 10ft Ganja Plant are immense though. Midnight Landing's a killer album - I really should get 'round to listening to it again sometime.

pourmeanother 03-01-2009 04:00 AM

Was recommended John Brown's Body and 10 ft. Ganja Plant at the same time.... good shiitt

Kamikazi Kat 03-22-2009 04:11 PM

I really like this. Its nice to see a band like this posted in this forum. The whole 3rd wave Punk/Ska thing gets old after a while, I would love to see more bands like this that go back to the roots of reggae and ska.

PinkCigarette 03-23-2009 01:35 PM

The name alone is awesome.

Never heard of them but really liked the song. I'll give them a listen.

LMK if you need any ups as I have all their albums.

Yoni 03-23-2009 08:34 PM

Pretty cool, I'll look for Midnight Landing.

SATCHMO 03-31-2009 01:27 AM

I'm pretty sure that Nick Hexum of 311 is the guest vocalist on Your Voice
(Bass Chalice)

I listened to this first track and really loved it, I'll have to check out more. I also grabbed one of the reggae compilations and really loved what I heard, like Pablo Moses "Come Mek We Run;" great track. So, thank you for introducing me to reggae outside of Mr. Marley.

Hesher 06-12-2009 06:40 PM

Sorry to revive this thread, but I don't usually like reggae and this band is amazing. They make me want to buy one of those Accugroove 21" woofer cabs and play bass through it with the highs all the way off.

Antonio 07-25-2009 06:46 PM

great band, i just got Bass Chalice, Hillside Airstrip, and Midnight Landing. i've just started on them, but so far i'm loving it. the smooth basslines, soulful guitar and relaxing beats, along with the vocals on some of their songs.

jackhammer 07-25-2009 06:49 PM

Great, great band and most of their albums are wrote and recorded in a few days. Completely organic.

Freebase Dali 07-25-2009 08:20 PM

Yea they sound like reggae.
Good stuff.
Hope you guys weren't surprised... I mean.. seriously...

Recorded i can believe, but written in that time too? Blimey.

Bulldog 07-26-2009 02:18 PM

I still haven't got round to listening to their new effort yet. I definitely should though, what with Midnight Landing being the shizz and all.

SATCHMO 07-26-2009 02:22 PM

It's good. A little lighter and rootsier than there previous efforts, but it's growing on me. If you need an up then holler.

Already got it thanks. It's been sitting on my EHD for a few weeks now. I'll make sure I don't leave it too long.

crazymenrunningback 07-31-2009 12:14 AM

Finally getting round to listening to the new album now. I'm only two tracks in and I'm already sold - bloody superb stuff.

New album isn't a patch on Midnight Landing for me :(

Well, that'd take some doing eh :) Midnight Landing's still far and away my favourite, but Bushrock is still a very good piece of work. I'd recommend it anyway.

I feel the same way. The album has a peculiar "dub light" feel to it that's sort of weird. Not a bad album. It will take some getting used to though.

The reason why the band score so high for me is that big fat organic bass sound that seems to be lacking on the new album. However, all told they are still a damn good band.

Thanx for the turn-on jackhammer. The first tune was pretty good but that 100lb weight was the ****. I love thos dub instrumentals like Doin' Time (Uptown Dub) - Sublime and One Step Beyond - Madness. Coincidently, I hear alot of similarities in those three songs. Is it just me? Got any other songs along those lines?

iron9567 11-11-2009 09:30 AM

I've been hooked on 10ft for years I has most of their albums they are a band that i would love to see live anyone that hasn't heard of them should seriously give them a listen
thanks
the iron man
