I agree with +81 this eats ****. What they said on behalf of the band was a bunch of chick shit. I totally agree with Brad's parents, Sublime really shouldn't be reunite, it'd be like getting some bro to replace Kurt Cobain for Nirvana. Rome looks like an ape.

I don't think there is a Sublime fan on the planet who would be encouraged by this to be honest, the shoe doesn't fit

If a guitarist or drummer dies though, people would accept a replacement, just isn't popular with singers but it still works occasionally. Look at the cult following DC had when they had to make the same decision

I'll be prefectly honest Rome looks like a chump. If he was a toned 6 foot, shaven headed dude with cool ink etc i think people would maybe be more acceptable to new Sublime material (after the initial shock and mumblings of a reformation)

I'm not saying i would, Brads family are opposed and thats a good enough reason for me mixed with my own reservations on the whole thing and the fear it would take away from what Sublime mean't to me in the 90s

But what i'm saying is i think its handy for us that Rome looks ridiculous

I don't understand how they can do this? If Brad has the rights to the name, it should be handed down to whoever his will designates and if he didn't want any other band using the name Sublime, I have a hard time believing he would leave the rights to it to his band. The thing is, it's obvious they're doing it for the money and the associated fame, or they wouldn't be violating the wishes of their dead friend. That's just ****ed up.

And if I was his parents and they were flat out ignoring my dead son's wishes, I'd probably follow them around and throw rocks through their drums.

All i was meaning is that if the guy fitted the band a little better there are people out there that would buy new material

On the net and from various discussions i've had there seem to be more people concerned over the guys image that the morals and wishes of bradley's estate

That's very true, because a friend of mine told me he was going to go see a Misfits concert pretty recently. Why anyone would want to do that is beyond me. He had no idea that Glenn Danzig was the original singer, or that he had left the band. Nor did he realize that the bassist Jerry Only was not only the only original member still in the band, but in fact the only member that even played with The Misftis when they were around. I don't see how you could buy tickets to a Misfits concert and not know that... but w/e. At least he knew they're a band.

I saw a girl wearing a Misfits shirt the other day. It saddens me to know that they either think it's just a design, or a really bad (version of a) band. Because trust me, this was one of those girls who wouldn't know good music if it was in her face.

But I like the parallel drawn here -- In a lot of ways, so-called Sublime is doing exactly what the so-called Misfits did. Take a decently-popular name and attach it to something it was never meant to represent.

I'm no Sublime fanboy but I like a good amount of their stuff and just can't believe they would "reunite" with some new guy. I don't care if this guy can sing, or whether he's a chump or not, although it's true he looks like a sissy and Brad's vibe was part of what Sublime was. I just think it's lame for them to bring back the name especially after Long Beach Dub All-Stars, as some of you have said.

Definitely smells like money. Otherwise why not just continue the side project or start something new altogether? It's all about name recognition. I also felt the same way about Alice in Chains, as mentioned, but since Jerry contributed a lot of the vocals in the past already, and still does on the new stuff, whatever. This is different.

And I'm not all up in arms about it, I'm more shocked to hear this than anything. Sublime in dead. And if Brad did have the right to the name, his band mates and supposed "friends" are assholes for trying to use it.
