Yes, and who I have been a fan of since the tender age of 14 in 1979.
They were hardly 'a 2-Tone band'. Without them there would have been no 2-Tone.

I saw them in April at Terminal 5 in NYC. Great show though they went on about an hour late.

And, how could we forget:

It wasn't really The Specials as you'd know it on this album. Some members regrettably reformed the band during the 90s (without key members Terry Hall and Jerry Dammers), releasing 2 albums, neither of which compare to the Specials' original albums. You'll rarely even find a mention of these 90s albums when these same band members are interviewed today, the band's name shouldn't have been used on those 90s albums.

But most of their songs are covers anyways :P.

My favourites are ''Little Bitch'', ''Monkey Man'' and ''A message to you rudy''.
But that song with tim armstrong in it on the album ''guilty t'ill proven innocent''(forgot which) was pretty damn cool too, because it had tim's awful vocals. I love tim's awful vocals :D.

The specials really blew my mind when I first heard them (I was a freshman). Until then the only ska I knew of was all the ****ty pop punk bands with horns during the 90s/ early 2000s. They converted me to real ska and I've been a huge fan since.
