where the Specials fans at?
My favorites gotta be Concrete Jungle, Gangsters, Too Much too young, ghost town, and more. I liked the s/t more than the More Specials album, although both were quite different and good. Opinions?

Ghost town was one of the first records I ever got when I was 4 or 5 years old

Ghost town is one of the coolest songs ever. I like the specials alot. Very very good band. They do a mean cover of Bob Dylans "maggies Farm" too.

The Specials are an awesome band. I love stuff off their self-titled cd like "A Message to You Rudy", "Concrete Jungle", and "Stupid Marriage."

Hooligans is my fave by them

The Specials are so cool... Got to know their song "A Message To You, Rudy" through a soundtrack and loved it.

i just checked them out and i quite like them...

in my opinion by far the best two tone band. the self titled is probably my favourite.

My second favourite two tone band behind the Selecter. They had a great sound and some good tunes although I do like the cover songs better than their original songs.

too much too young makes me shake my ass.

I first saw The Specials "Message to you Rudy" video (pre-MTV) in 1981 and was an instant fan.

They are definitely the godfathers of the 70's/80's ska movement.

how can you not like the specials? great band.

Ghost Town/ Too Much Too Young and who remembers The Beat?...did a great ska version of Tears of a Clown.

Yeah, that's cuz its an old school Wailers song more recently covered by Hepcat. I don't know what I was thinking in my original post.

Man, the Specials are AWESOME...I love 'Simmer down' and 'Stand up' but all their songs are good in my opinion

The Specials seem cool from the two songs I've heard, which are 'Concrete Jungle' and 'Much Too Young' and my mate, who usually has very good taste (apart from the exception of Xtc) loves them. I might have to listen to them now actually....

Simmer down and stand up are they later ones or sommatt? I can't place them.

You should listen to The Specials other UK number 1, Too much too young. Not only is that good if you are able to obtain the EP as it was released then it includes two boss live cover versions of Liquidator and Guns of Navarone.
The first album by The Specials, self titled is a brilliant debut. The tune that brought The Specials to my attention was the superb single called Gangsters which strangely is not on the first album released in the UK. However the single does feature on a German import of the first album.

That's strange as you made the same mistake. Simmer down is Marley and presumably Mr Trilby is referring to Get up Stand-up also by Bob.

best 2nd wave band. i think thier self titled album is the best.

Oh yes I used to adore Ghost Town when i was liddle.

I just have to say i also LOVE the specials. my favourite ska band also. 'too much too young' also makes me shake my ass. yeah.
