Info for a casual fan of reggae

Back in the Seventies I listened to quite a bit of reggae & still like a lot of that music. The reggae I come across now also tends to be artistes from back then, including Toots & The Maytells. Toots did a great duet with Willie Nelson a couple of years back called "Worried Man".
Anyway, I have heard some raga & dancehall, & am not into it at all.
My question is this: is there still Roots Reggae being made & which current artistes would I be likely to like going from my reggae tastes as above?
I also like a lot of the country reggae, & have a couple of collections of this stuff.

My advice would be to read some of the threads on these boards, especially some of the older ones detailing the history of reggae/threads listing the greatest or most influential reggae artists/albums. I've discovered lots of (old) and new reggae thanks to those threads. Listening to reggae internet radio stations is also a good idea.

Traditional Roots Reggae is definitely still being made, its around you just gotta look for it. Burning Spear is still making music (of you're unaware of whom he is then I highly suggest picking up some of his material he is brilliant.)

There is also a lot of great newer acts who take classic roots reggae styles and add their own flavor to them. Guys like Stick Figure, Fear Nuttin' Band, Rebelution, The Dirty Heads, SOJA, Clear Conscience; among many others.

Your best bet would to check out a few of the bands I mentioned above, or like Mr.Charlie said check out some of the older threads in this sub forum.

A great place to get a lot of info for up and coming reggae acts would be The Pier. They follow and support a lot of these underground acts and showcase them for the world to see, one of my favorite websites.

An updated version of 100 Song from the Golden Age of Reggae has been re-titled simply The Golden Age of Reggae. The advantage of the latter thread is I've updated all of the YouTube links and you can actually hear music from the artists I profile.
