Snoop is going to be a gateway for other people that may not be so into reggae and then they will discover Tosh and the others. Even though some of his songs may not be the best it's the message behind them and the fact that he has a wider audience which can be used to look into the classics if they end up liking some of his work and find out about the true greats behind reggae.

So, eh..the much anticipated album had arrived. And from what I've already heard it's horrific.

So the whole album was leaked, I uploaded 2 of the best unreleased songs, my opinion atleast.

So the main point of this thread is, what do you think of these 2 songs? And what do you think of the privious released songs?

The music and arrangements aren't bad but I don't think he has a strong singing voice at all. Snoop just sounds like hes forcing it to much, there's no feeling in the vocals.

Indeed, reggae needed something like Snoop Lion to get Reggae back into the mainstream mindset. Let's face it, unless you talk about certain artist like Bob Marley, reggae is not exactly a genre people seem to care for in the mainstream mostly. Snoop's name alone can introduce reggae into a popularity it has not seen in years.

However!

It does not excuse his god awful excuse for reggae, and the fact that Snoop does not fit the role at all of a reggae artist, it just seems so forced and fake, Reggae might have needed a Snoop Lion, but maybe someone more talented and vocally able to do reggae style music.
