Default Good 1st Wave Bands?

I've been thinking of starting up a ska project, and sort of getting back to the basics. I'd like to know of some good original Jamaican ska bands I could listen to. I know of the Skatalites, but nobody else.

Wow, Im acctualy really happy to see a thread in the ska section for once! Ayway heres a bunch of bands that I really enjoy that I pulled out of my collection for you.

Desmond Dekker
Laurel Aitken
Toots And The Maytalls
Heptones
Alton Ellis
Justin Hinds and The Dominos(R.I.P. Hinds)
Ethipoians
Derek Morgan
Tommy Mccook and The Supersonics
Upsetters

Hope those help. There all EXTREMELY good bandxz so you shouldnt be disapointed. And if you like the skatalites all you need to do is take baisically any member(Laurel Aitken, Don Drummond, Tommy McCook, Lloyd Brevrett, Lester Sterling, Doreen Schaffer) and they pretty much all put out solo albums which aree excelent.

Absolutely LOVE these guys. I'm going to see Toots and the Maytals next week. No one will go with me, but I don't care, it's going to be OFF THE HOOOK.

I've baicsically put Prince Buster on the fence. He played during the first wave but at the same time most of his stuff sounds alot more 2 tone. And the Slackers arnt an original Jamican band but they are some AWSOME first wave style ska.

Most certainly agree with that. The Slackers, IMO, are exceptionally good, and as you suggested, put a modern twist on the first wave style.

So do you not like Prince Buster? It is more two tone, but it's good stuff.
