Mundell Hugh Mundell (1982, Greensleeves)

Don't know about replacing this one in my disc collection. Not at the goin rate. Might luck up and find a copy at a garage sale. Lots of them these days. Good to hear again.

Album of the day is one of the earliest dub lps - and a classic. Been looking for a great Augustus Pablo upload on The Tube (easy access for everybody - and if you’re feeling dub there was nobody better, imo) but Keith Hudson’s 1974 Pick A Dub fits a minimalist mood (minus the sanctified vibe of Pablo). It’s a loose, laid back nothing session with Hudson foolin and groovin for the hell of it.

The group, One World, disintegrated soon after dropping the album from which this track came.
A Nigerian mostly African Pop band turned toward roots reggae on Mama and Papa. I found Night and Work irresistible.

One of my all-time favorites.

And as long as I'm in this thread. Here's another live version of an all-time favorite of mine...

Toots & the Maytals - Pressure Drop

Toots was always irie. (R.I.P.)

A lil dancehall mixtape vibe ...

Slatyam Stoot Toots & The Maytals (1972, Dynamic Sounds)

No brainah. Toots and his band went to the UK to slick it up and call it Funky Kingston but this is the raw version of much of the material on the later album.

Back into this one. Irie.
