Default Skanking

Ahhhh skaking.....My favorite form of dance. Every show I go to I have to break down into skaking. The best thing about skaking is that there is no wrong way to skank. Me, I like to put one hand behind my back and swing the other hand while im going around in the pit.

So what are some ways you guys skank? No wrong or right answer.

Discuss.

Wrong there is a wrong way to skank. And if your doing it at punk shows I have this strange fee;ling your doing it wrong. Flailing your arms and running in place isnt skanking. Its just flailing your arms and running in place.

Skanking is just dancing. It goes as far back as the original dance hall days where people would dance quite normally to the music, quite well but quite normally. It is not, as all-nite said, running in place & flailing your arms. Its also not what you do in a circle pit. Its just dancing, pure and simple.

Chill out guys. I know what it is. But do you have any variations on the way you skank?

Generally I try to find the biggest dopiest skinhead at the show and run in place behind him while punching him repititiously in the kidneys. That usually shakes things up a bit.

^ Haha.

What was it the skinheads used to dance to 'MADNESS'.
Was it the - nutty dance?
The one in which two skinheads would dance, face to face and repeatedly head butt each other.

There isnt really any style to skainking. Its about letting the natural rythm go through you. Its not like theres specific moves. Why is it thst every so often someone comes along and makes one of these threads without ever knowing what skanking is?

yeah, having heard all those points, i would say theres a bad way to skank, it goes

putting your left arm and lag up at the same time, and then putting your right arm and leg up at the same time, in a kind of retarded march
i ****ign love a good skank, but i can't that long for my smoke infested lungs

Hehe. I love to skank. But I'll admit I'm not the best at it. It's just something with my legs. They don't want to move right or something. At school dances me and my friends will try skank to something that isn't even ska. It's funny.

Je l'avoue! I'm a "retarded march"er. But its still classed as skanking because its any form of dancing to reggae/ska music.

If bouncing around like a strange little reptile is wrong, I don't want to be right!!
