^ oh yeah, especially that first disc. i've only seen the Queens twice but anytime they played really old material they would ALWAYS stretch it out and jam it out a little. so a full set of 'oldies' should have some seriously groovy jams happening throughout the evening. it might not be the most appealing situation for a contemporary fan who's used to their more recent and polished material, but for the rest who just want to space out on some great live music.... awesome

In June 2010, original members Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork joined John Garcia onstage to perform "Green Machine" and "Gardenia" during a headlining appearance by Garcia's "Garcia Plays Kyuss" project at Hellfest in Clisson, France. In November of the same year, it was announced that Garcia, Oliveri and Bjork will reunite for a European tour under the moniker Kyuss Lives, with Bruno Fevery added as the band's guitarist. They will also tour Australia in May. After the tour, Kyuss plans to record a new studio album for a 2011 release.

the whole idea of 'Kyuss Lives' just doesn't seem right to me.

it's like going to see Led Zeppelin with someone filling in for Jimmy Page. besides Scott Reeder was a more substantial bassist than Oliveri, though, the association to QOTSA likely gets them more press.

i think Homme said it best in a quote close to that same wiki blurb from earlier. i'm paraphrasing here but basically his view boils down to - Kyuss was a very special band, it had a very special run, and now it's over. if you were there when it happened you were one of the lucky ones that shared in the magic with the band. if you weren't, then you weren't, that's luck of the draw. not gonna piss on the memory of something great for a buck.

i think that really sums it up. Kyuss has the reputation it does because so few people actually went out to see them when they had the chance. it's not like it's hard to find their material or live clips of what it was when it happened. but to try re-doing it 15 years later with a random guy trying to fill an iconic role and a bass player who's got a proven track record for getting way too messed up, way too often instead of the guy who stuck with them for their 2 biggest albums kind of makes you wonder just what's up.

While thats true, I for one would rather see a Homme-less Kyuss than no Kyuss at all. As I never got to see them when they were together in full.

They are playing because they want to play. That is why they started in the first place. Homme wants to stick with Queens of the Stone Age cool w.e. He wants to say he is not going to play in it again yet plays covers of their songs? Hahah give me a break.

Same here. Brant Bjork, Garcia, and Olveri were a huge part of the band. Not just Homme. Honestly I would love to see Alfredo Hernandez on drums with Bjork on guitar. That would be another great line up IMO.
I'm hoping to catch em live.
