Kyuss

Does anyone know anything about these guys?...favourite songs etc.

2100 08-05-2005 03:43 AM

Yes I have heard one song by them, Gardenia...though I forgot if I liked it or not. :)

Sneer 08-05-2005 07:05 AM

one inch man and love has passed me by are my favourite kyuss songs. best album by far in my opinion is blues for the red sun- the definitive stoner rock album.

itchytasty 08-05-2005 08:36 AM

Blues for the Red Sun and their self-titled (aka Welcome to Sky Valley) are my favorites.

"50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up)" is by far my favorite song.

Merkaba 08-05-2005 06:33 PM

Yeah i like that song too, was downloading a heap of their stuff last night, quite like the Green Machine too. Wicked band with their muffled sounding guitars

SATCHMO 08-05-2005 08:28 PM

I like Kyuss a lot. I like Clutch even more.

itchytasty 08-06-2005 09:15 AM

I believe they got the muffled guitar sound by plugging the guitar into a bass amp, if I'm not mistaken...

Merkaba 08-07-2005 04:49 PM

Do Clutch have a similar sound? must check them out

riseagainstrocks 08-07-2005 05:12 PM

I heard something off of Welcome To Sky Valley today. Can't remember the song name though. Very similar to QOTSA...

Metal_Warrioress 08-08-2005 06:06 PM

Kyuss are awesome... I love them!... best stoner rock band ive ever heard...although ide class them heavy metal..just plain strait out stuff....fu ck i wish ide seen them when they toured with tallica back in 1992 i think it was....anyway a few fave songs of mine are:

white_powered_zombie 10-14-2005 05:04 AM

Will Do! What ya think of And the Circus Leaves Town?

Merkaba 10-14-2005 02:03 PM

I just bought that cd.

You don't know Hybrid Theory? I don't recommend it. Stick to Kyuss.

cardboard adolescent 03-01-2006 03:03 PM

I love Welcome To Sky Valley and I'd heard that Blues For The Red Sun was their best album, but when I got it I was kind of dissapointed. Do you guys think it's worth it for me to get And The Circus Leaves Town?

Merkaba 03-01-2006 08:33 PM

Yes!

Thats their best album in my opinion. Gloria Lewis, Catamaran and Phototropic are bloody awesome. Even El Rodeo is great. It's not at all like Blues For The Red Sun though, it feels much more exotic or lush. Can't think of the right word for it.

Rabid Sea Turtles 03-01-2006 09:04 PM

Never heard of the band Kyuss before.

white_powered_zombie 03-09-2006 12:23 AM

2 0f 4 100 (Degrees)-Space Cadet-Demon Cleaner
3 of 4 Odyssey-Conan Troutman-N.O.-Whitewater
4 of 4 Lick Doo

Merkaba 03-09-2006 12:47 AM

Yeah theres one where the tracks are all individual (the top), and then theres a version where the album comes in sections (the bottom).

Don't know why it's like that though.

white_powered_zombie 03-09-2006 12:53 AM

really, cause i thought i saw the one with individual tracks in a CD shop a while back and i didn't know whether it was just the shop had no idea about the track listing. (cause i got the one with combined songs)
That's sic though, cause ya can jump straight to a track. im getting it my TOP PRIORITY.

dropdeadsyndicate 04-11-2006 02:57 PM

hmm i cant pick a song but the entire "when the circus leaves town" album was great,i found it hard to just listen to one song on there i have to listen to the whole thing....its kinda like listening to only part of operation mindcrime...with a couple of exceptions (revolution calling and mindcrime)ya just dont do it

Sebster17 04-12-2006 09:47 AM

welcome to sky valley is a great cd. everything on there's awesome. i haven't heard much else. good thing they broke up tho, cause then QOTSA would not exist!!!!

Reznorslave 04-12-2006 09:50 AM

Welcome to Sky Valley has some of the best guitar tones I've ever heard!

QOTSA are good but I know which band I'd rather have. I'd like Kyuss to stick around far more then QOTSA.

tdoc210 11-30-2006 04:30 PM

Kyuss, is the best stner rock band, imo, welcome to sky valley is grand, but my favourite song is is spacship landing.
I highly recommend them

Merkaba 11-30-2006 09:56 PM

Spaceship Landing gets my number one vote too.

Have you heard Wretch? It's not quite as adventurous as their other albums but it's probably one of the most thorough rock albums you'll ever hear. It's hard to believe they were all 18 or under at the time of producing that album too.

Mr Sensitive 12-01-2006 04:08 AM

Kyuss are great, Whitewater FTW.

Alo 12-01-2006 04:53 AM

I only have the cd Wretch, and I hated it. I can't remember why I hated it, I just kept skipping halfway through, and ended up deleting the lot.

tdoc210 12-01-2006 06:20 AM

its cause you are dutch

Alo 12-01-2006 10:01 AM

^ I already told you, I'm American, now I can double HA you for your stupidity.

white_powered_zombie 12-11-2006 06:22 PM

I think wretch could be my toughest toppest record. i love that grinding sound.

Mamagarmr - Do you know of any other grunge underground bands like Kyuss i've been doing a bitta looking into other bands cause i can't get enough of it. I came across heaps of bands that are meant to sound like other bands but i know some will be **** and some will be gold. have ya heard of any and i don't mean alice in chains/L7 or Nirvana. Take Melvins for example have you heard of them, they're supposably got a sound like kyuss and black sabbath.

anyone feel free to real off a list of sick underground grunge bands.

cardboard adolescent 12-11-2006 06:27 PM

Melvins, St. Vitus, Mudhoney, Electric Wizard, Fu Manchu, Nebula, Sleep, Earth, Monster Magnet, something along those lines...

I'm sure Merkaba has a ton more for you.
