Doesn't look like Pearl Jam are as popular, does it! Overall I'd pick Nirvana as my favourite, because I feel like the singing kind of lets The Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins down (specifically the lyrics for RHCP and Corgan's voice for Pumpkins). I'm not saying that the singing is terrible for these bands, but its not really up to the same standard as the music.

Whereas Cobain's voice was absolutely brilliant.

WOAH now, RHCP's singing and lyrics lets them down?! Hell no, Anthony Kiedis was effing fantastic for them. Both vocally and lyrically, I wouldnt say he let them down at all...

Fucking aye. The Peppers kicked arse in that department, in every department, some people.

Anthony Kiedis is a legend. Anybody read his biography? That's such a good book. I don't think the RHCP lyrics let them down, infact the lyrics kicked butt. I can't get enough of 'Under The Bridge', 'Otherside' or 'Californication'.

I dont think Corgans voice puts the pumpkins down at all...His voice is like Axls and Geddys which is either you love it or you hate it, i personaly like corgans voice, in fact, pretty much all i listened to today was smashing pumpkins, his voice was part of what made the band...Im not one of those people who can really like a band if i dont like the vocals, mainly why i can't stand a huge portion of Death Metal bands.

I've got to agree with that viewpoint. What you said about Corgan's voice being 'Love it or Hate it' is almost what brings it down for me. I love the Pumpkins music, the instruments, the arrangements and lyrics, but do find that I hate Corgan's voice which brings the music down for me. If he had a more boring, middle of the road voice I'd probably prefer it.

I stick by my opinion on Kiedis within the Chilli Peppers. Again, I'm not saying that he can't sing or write lyrics, but he's backed by what I'd say was the best contemporary rhythm section around, when he's definitely not the best singer or lyricist around. What I mean is that I wouldn't go out and buy an Anthony Kiedis solo acoustic album.

Would you?
