Portrait Of An American Family! It Rocks!

I love all the albums though.

Yes Marylin Manson is a bad influence, if he influences people to like his music that's bad because HE SUCKS. Seriously he's one ****ed up mother ****er.

I'd just like to say, he is not conformed. This is probably the only reason people think of him as such a creep. Ya he is creepy, but in a good way. He is different and does his own thing. That doesn't make him bad.

Marilyn Manson is very good at giving people exactly what they want- an antagonist. I have a great deal of respect for him because he's good at manipulating the public to make lots of cash.

Of course, Marilyn Manson is by no means the worst, I mean ****, anyone ever heard of BDF by Gwar? Gwar is of course a joke, but a lot of people don't get it. Marilyn Manson gets a lot of **** thrown at him because he broke into the mainstream but if anyone a) kills themselves because of his music or b) goes crazy and kills a bunch of people they were probably a waste of oxygen to begin with.

Well, i think he is a bad influence, in more ways than one, hes a horrible influence on kids, not to mention all of his fans who think that they can be goth just from wearing black and white make up and pearcings, without any idea of what goth is... And aside from teaching kids that satan worshiping, mindless violence and drug use is ok, he makes crappy music, and has influenced many other crappy bands in the process, so thats 2 crimes against humanity right there.

Edit: Also, he trys too hard to shock people, he dosent do anything new, even though many of his fans are lead to believe that, i mean seriously, David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop was doing that kind of **** when Brian Warner was still in diapers. You cant shock people anymore.

Woo.

Alright, well, personally I'm a satanist. And in examples like "The Fight Song" he isnt meaning grab your friend and beat his face. It's more of fight against the current. His look is merely to show off his ideas, and to make him look "cooler". I'm not a huge fan of his, but he isnt a bad influence, children just take things the wrong way, and example would be, a girl in my school, huge fan of his, wants to know if when she tries magick (if somebody tries to correct my spelling I will smack them.) she should cut herself and drink the blood. Knowing better, I told her that would probably only make her arm hurt. Nowhere does Manson force anyone to rip their arms up and try to cast spells. He is her only connection to Satanism, yet she considers herself satanist, even though she knows nothing about it. Manson's music is his music, not satanic lore, and if by chance something does happen, it wasnt his fault.

Edit: And so you know, I wore all blue today. Light Blue. Jeans. Shirt. Blue.
Not goth.
Not a devil worshipper.
Blue.

Have fun.

If you were to pick faults at every artists material for being influential I can think of much worse. Especially outside of the rock&metal arena. I don't think he's all that bad, he is so far out-there that most kids who listen to his stuff find it more of a fantasy, rather then a possibility. And I happen to think he makes good music, nothing great, but still good. He is a good vocalist, knows how to entertain a crowd (no matter how low the life forms are), and his music isn't technically fantastic but it still rocks. He's in the same category as all the other bands that aren't technical geniuses but still make good music. You know, the ones you and I and many others stick up for so often. As for material, you can't bag him for talking about drugs when thats what so many greats in the past have done such as GnR and Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton and so on, he isn't the first and nor will he be the last.
