I wouldn't say awful. Not exactly a return to form but better than a lot of the music he put out over the past few years

In my opinion, Manson isn't very good, the most part of his commercial success has revolved around massacring other artists songs.
His fan base felt they could relate to him, as he was an outcast, which presumably most of his followers were, and they were inspired by his image/antics.

All in all though, I do not rate him highly as a musician. Just my opinion guys.

As I say, I gave up on him after ACS. He just seems like he is trying to hard these days to be shocking. Came more naturally to him (or maybe it was just that it was not overtly familiar to the masses) at the time. Yeah, it is a little bit better than the majority of crap he has pumped out since.

I think Mechanical Animals was alright I guess, "Coma White" is a great song still to me. But I think he should take some more time off to gather his thoughts and come up with something that is more shocking, he has the intelligence to do it, he just doesn;t seem to care to use that intelligence anymore.

The video as well, has potential, I take it this is from his horror movie that has been in talks for years... however, it was just, not that good.. and as I say, his acting was just bad.

If you wanna see that type of thing done right, just watch a Takashi Miike movie.

If you actually understand what his albums are about and videos you'll get that no they don't promote violence! He's shock rock, he has to make very strong imagery to his videos to go with his message. Usually he takes on the personas of an antichrist superstar or an omega glam rock being and his whole view on the western world is that it is rotten to the core with the 3 G's guns, god and government...he is a super smart guy and he seems to be as much as a pacifist as the dalai lama.

that is a great picture by the way.

That's repulsive. So is he actually gay? According to wiki he undertakes "homosexual acts on stage" so to speak.

Oh and Mechanical Animals was an awesome album. I watched the video you are all talking about and it's really try hard. I could read poetry with more passion than him.
