"Good" screamings don't make any damage, they come from the "inside" rather then the "outside". I wish I could explain it better - you should look for the method that Chris Cornell uses, it's a mixed head & chest voice that creates the unique scream
Chris Cornell has a ****ing amazing scream. His range is rediculous. Good points.

Turn down the amps so you have to scream louder, that will surely help you. To ruin your voice. Important thing is first learn to sing in tune, then start bit by bit to rough up your voice at the same time you sing. Later on you can move straight to tough rasp sound or even screaming. But keeping your voice steady while screaming high pitches is even harder than singing with clear, or with a bit rasped voice. Practise is they key!
