Theres melody in metal buddy, and theres ****ing piles of talent too. everyones already mentioned tons of awesome melodic metal bands, try also soilwork, its not exactly "metal" but avenged sevenfold had great melodics. and if you want heavy but enchanting music, try some isis. steer clear of ****in lame 80's hair metal, theres nothing i despise more than hair metal.

Not all bands need melody to be good. You are "open minded"? Tell me how judging a whole genre of music helps with your "open mindedness"? This is one opinion. If you want to be open minded, hear some more bands.
