They're just from the top of my head. I couldn't remember the names of heaps, but I'm too busy to look them up right now.

Aside from Peart and Portnoy those are rather lame choices.

Jason Rullo from Symphony X is very good and so is Johan Langell from Pain Of Salvation, but you're saying it like Carey cant compare, which is basicly bollocks, even the most passionate Tool haters appreciate Careys skill and experience as a musician, maybe you should too...Im far from a Tool fanboy, but your lame attempts to strip the band of all credibility is starting to piss me off, you need to cut it out.

And Bonham?...You really werent trying then, im the biggest Zephead you will ever meet, on this forum especialy, and i love Bonham, but skill was never his greatest strong point, like Moon he could be sloppy at times, and his drumming is more intense than it is complex, dont get the two confused.

I could name a handful of better drummers than Bonham, Danny Carey being one of them.

This may piss the zepheads off, but hopefuly they will realise that im talking about pure skill, not greatness or coolness or influence.

Well I saw Moby **** live, and that is pretty damn amazing. It's my opinion that Carey bores me to death, live with it, just like I've lived with the fact that you hate DT. Christ, the immaturity level from you is unmeasurable! Please tell me it's all an act.
And I never said Carey can't compete with any of them, I just listed ten that I like better.

PS: For the most part I wasn't talking about skill, we were taking about the subjective "better" I thought. Hence why I said the cool time signature changes Carey does doesn't impress me too much. Carey may be able to play a lot more complex **** than Bonham but Bonhams fills in Moby **** were pretty awesome and it's pretty hard to measure the skill level anyway, so I just go on what sounds cooler basically :P

Most technical drummers can be boring, as a matter of fact.

And why am i immature?...Because i dont like DT?...I never said i hated them, i just hate how overrated they are in general, by you especialy...And to be fair most people find your anti Tool and Mars Volta rantings to be pretty immature as well.

I reckon your immature because you said "but your lame attempts to strip the band of all credibility is starting to piss me off, you need to cut it out."

I'm not attempting anything, I just hate Tool so f-ing much. If I ever made anti Volta and Tool rantings, I assure you I was merely having some fun. But yes, I hate them so, so much.

I find it especially hilarious how when I apparently "strip[ped] the band [tool] of all credibility" you started to get pissed off, and then you go and keep repeating how much you think DT are overrated. But just like you think Tool are great, I believe each member of DT are the greatest virtuosic musicians in the same band. Try to see my side sometimes maybe?

Hey boo boo, do you like wanna stop this pointless ghey fighting now?

You probably haven't heard all the drummers I listed, do you wanna download "Bulletbeast" by Soilwork if you haven't heard it yet? It's probably my favourite display of drumming I've heard in rock. It's the God: Henry Ranta.

Not classical. If you've ever watched a piano concerto you'd know it'd be silly to compare jazz to it. And harpists are the greatest too. Oh and french horns are insanely hard to play, I think the hardest. But yeah, jazz second. Have you ever seen a live performance of a classical-jazz fusion? It's ****ing brill.

You really overrate DTs technical skill, they are skilled, but dammit not as skilled as the fanboys try to make it seem.

I can name many better, more skilled musicians than each member, who also make better music on the side.

I wouldnt even have to try with Labrie.

Yes, so can I but it'd be hard for me to think of any bands that are more skilled as a whole, excluding LTE.

Okay so for Petrucci I reckon: Vai, Satch, Yngwie are better, to name three.
Portnoy: Like every drummer I named up there plus more.
Myung: This is tough, maybe you can tell me the best bassists, I don't really know much about that admittedly, but I just know that Myung is ****ing crazy to the max!
Rudess: Sorry but I'm yet to hear any, there's a reason why he's known as the best keyboardist in rock
LaBrie: Well I think you're referring to personally taste, but strictly on skill, I don't know. I think I like Tate, Plant and Morse better.

Hey guess what? I've turned yet another thread into a DT thread! rofl.

And Portnoy isnt that more skilled than Carey, they are actualy quite equal...Still, i know a lot of people who drum professionly, and they consider Carey a top 20 player.

Whoever says this is a idiot...That honor goes to Emerson, thats a opinion i will stick with for the rest of my life...Do you play keyboards Don?...Because i do, its the first instrument i have ever learned to play, i have been playing keyboards for 8 years....I have heard Rudess, he is good, and i have heard a sh*tload of his material with DT and The Dregs, but there are still many keyboard players who crush Rudess in not only skill, but in every aspect of greatness as we know it.

Keith Emerson
Rick Wakeman
Jon Lord
Tony Banks
Ray Manzarek
Richard Wright
Al Kooper
Nicky Hopkins
Billy Preston
Greg Rollie
Steve Winwood

Labrie isnt even that good period, hes a horrible vocalist in my opinion, technicaly very average, his range is decent, but his power is weak, and his tone just downright sucks...Its not even worthy naming all the better vocalists, that would take forever.

No surprise i must say.

If you really are a critic then you simply make me dislike music critics even more, especialy when you think you know everything, even more than actual musicians.

Are you a musician?

I am, and so is my brother, a drummer as a matter of fact.

Yep I'm a musician. The rock instruments I play are keyboards/piano, drums, electric and acoustic guitar. I'm also a decent trumpeter and others.

You don't need to attack me by saying I think I know everything. That's just stupid, especially when you're the one who's naming 1000 musicians who you think are better than DT and whatever.

I disagree with pretty much your entire list. There's no way that all those or even any of those guitarists are better than Petrucci (besides Angelo). Most of them are total lol, Blackmore! rofl! The man hasn't heard/seen Pertucci at all I don't think! And all those bassists made me lol too. Come back to me when you watch L@B, i.e Myung is a maniac. I don't like it how you said: "Whoever says this is a idiot." I so don't understand how someone can say this then say things like "especially when you think you know everything." You're acting like your opinion is Godly. I just wanna say that there is no way on Earth Emerson is even in the same universe as Rudess. It is just ridiculous. You really need to see Rudess play live. You act like you're the only one in the world who has heard said music. It's not like I haven't heard almost every single track Emerson has every keyboarded for, and there is nothing there that has even mildly impressed me with comparison to Rudess. And the fact that you've named a pack more is ridiculous. And since I've been a musician and critic for a long time now, it's pretty safe to say that anyone who thinks Rudess is one of the best or the best keyboardist in rock isn't an idiot, so stop being silly and arrogant. But I will grant you with the fact that Emerson is definitely one of the best keyboardists in rock history, maybe even number two, and not just skill wise but of course as an innovater amongst other things...But better than Rudess???

PS: And you were joking with the Mahavishnu Orchestra thing weren't you?
