Well, for me personally, Danny Carey is my all-time favourite drummer. But regarding the best drummer, for me it would be a close call between Peart and Carey. I'm just not that awed by Jordison's drumming.

As I've stated before, you don't have to be good at the drums for it to sound good. Jordison just hits them as hard as he can, and it sounds good. But is he talented? Hell no.

Jordison is not all that. I still think Dave Lombardo (Slayer) is one of the best 'pure' drummers out there. Sometimes simplicity makes the best drum tracks. Over elaboration can become tiresome. Technicality is not always conducive to the ears.

This is still one of the finest examples of a brilliant drum track. It does not impose on the track and obscure the songs musical themes, yet without it, the song would be just another Thrash Metal track. Considering that it is older than a lot of people on this forum is testament to it's excellence:

I agree with you that sometimes simplicity makes the best drum tracks and that over-elaboration can become very tiresome, but as a personal preference I like seeing technicality in musicians. Not over-elaboration, but simple examples of technicality. Although that video is pretty awesome and an example of very talented drumming, I just can't get past the fast-paced double-kicking and mechanized smacking that just reminds me of so many other drumming examples of those genres...

Neil Peart is in a whole different league compared to the others. If they meant influence, then Keith would win. My personal favs are Mike Portnoy and Dominic Howard.

Compared to most drummers Travis is pretty mediocre. I mean I like him and all, but he doesn't have much skillz.

I really do not like Travis Barker as a drummer. I hate Blink 182, personal opinion I know, but I just don't think Barker is good and have no idea what all the hype surrounding him is about.

But hey didn't get in a plane crash or something? Serious injuries?
