Neil Peart.

I've seen Rush countless times in concert and his solos never get old.

OK, he's really good, seriously good, and I am big fan of his and the Foo Fighters, and I'd even go as far as to say Grohl is way above average and quite awesome in his own right.... but better than some of the folks listed on this board...Neil Peart, Danny Carey, John Bonham... Grohl himself probably worships these guys himself and would probably embarassed to be called "better" than alot of these dru

I like to think that this is obvious, but thank you for pointing it out anyway.

I like Steve Smith and Terrio Bozzio for their Rudiments playing technique

Right now, for me, it's Danny Carey. Then I'd say Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, and Mario Duplantier of Gojira. Des Kensel of High On Fire is another great drummer, as is Brann Dailor of Mastodon.

Of course all time drummers have to include Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, and Art Blakey. I don't want to forget Gene Krupa, either.

Keith Moon! Although it's hard to judge because of such different styles

Even though I voted for Neil Peart, I think Keith Moon provides the romance and outlandish style of a great drummer of a bygone age. I remember reading once in a book about his first show proper with the Who and apparently he shocked collegues before the show, when he roped his drums to nearby pillars and in a drum solo "He proceded to beat seven buckets of proverbial **** out of them" or words that effect and the whole drum kit was actually bouncing off the floor!!!

I`ve watched hundreds of dvds over the years of bands in concert and the obvious ones always stand out such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Nirvana etc but the most impressive act that I`ve seen in concert by DVD is certainly the Who in their heyday. Not surprisingly they make no.1 in most peoples all time favourite acts live.
