I think you should buy Guero is what I think. You certainly won't be disappointed. Personally my favourite Beck album, although I must admit being quite partial to Sea Change as well, even though nobody else was.

What supises me most about the Beck cannon is that Sea Change was so well recieved and Midnight Vultures was reviewd so poorly. I own SC and I don't really care for it, and they play MV at least once a week at work and I think its amazing.

Beck in general is hot ****. He should be as highly reviewd as Radiohead and David Bowie, who I think are not as good as Beck, but get far more respect.

To me, Folk and Singer/Songwriters are the same thing, and to me, Beck might be one of the better new ones out there. An admitted fan of Hank Williams, the man runs the gammit (sp?) from stupidity to deeply insghtful.

If we are including Beck in this forum, who would you say are his pseudo-folie contemporaries?

he is a singer songwriter first and formost, a modern turbadour if you like, despite the fact that he takes a different approach to the whole folk thing, not being affraid to put on a kick ass beat and make danceable songs, i downloaded most of his albums, odelay is my favourite, guerro isn't half bad either, and even though i haven't quite listened through sea change ( after going through hell and back to download it ), lost cause is such a beautiful song that it's gotta be good too...
so as far as contemporaries, i would say willie mason, bright eyes and the likes....

Im not familiar with this willie mason, care to share your secrets sir?

Sea Change isn't my favortie beck album, but I own it, and its alright. Paper Tiger is pretty good as well, and whatever the first track is. (You can see how often I listen to it).
