This morning in the car I heard Beck's "Lost Cause" for the first time and liked it. Thank goodness for independent alternative radio stations produced by students at universities!

I liked the song's haunting, low, sweetly sad sound very much. The song inspired me to look up other songs by him.

So far I have been disappointed in the rest of Beck's music.
(EDIT: I actually kind of like "Blue Moon," too. just listened to it in Big3's post)

I agree with adidasss from long ago: "Lost Cause" is the only song that I like on the Sea Change album:

I didn't realize right away that Beck also sings "Loser," and I was horrified (in an exaggerated way) because I agree that "Loser" is one of the most annoying songs ever:

Lost Cause is a wonderful song. I actually like the slow drone of Loser also, its such a strange arrangement and Becks almost monotone voice really carries the song.

I am currently completely mesmerized by "Lost Cause."

I love its low notes like the ocean's depth, its sweet, jangly acoustic guitar strumming, and the delicacy of the tinkling bells. I love Beck's deep resonant voice and the occasional constasting sharp-as-a-knife-blade electronic sounds.

I also love the song's overall mood and message.

Finally, I like the clever lyrics when Beck says, "I'm tired of fighting, I'm tired of fighting," which is meaningful by itself, but then takes on added meaning when he completes the thought by singing, "I'm tired of fighting for a lost cause" after having just stated that his relationship partner (his wife) was a lost cause.

"Lost Cause" for me is one of those songs where I think, "If this were the only song that existed, I'd still be well satisfied by music."

I do agree that "Loser" has a strange arrangement and Beck has a weirdly monotone voice in that song, even though I dislike it. I do, however, like the line about a termite choking on a splinter. That's the only line that stands out for me from the song.

I would have never guessed the two songs were by the same person. I guess that's a good thing in that it shows Beck is versatile.
