future rock gods

who in the rock world today do you think has potential to be future rock gods?

i think theres a few

Matt Heafy - Trivium
Matt Tuck - B4MV
The Rev - Avenged Sevenfold
Randy Strohmeyer - Finch

They could have potential to be gods like
Zakk Wylde, Jimmy Page, Hendrix, Daron Malakian, Slash, Flea and many more

I understand that you are a system fan but.......is it really fair to put him in the same category as Hendrix, Flea, Page......c'mon, it doesnt fit

Hypnotised or Mesmerized 11-28-2005 03:31 PM

well i think he can be classed as the same as them as he is an amazing guitar player and writes some unbelievably great songs but thats just my opinion you dont need to agree

I reallyreallyreally hope this failure doesn't become a "future rock god". I mean really, has he actually done anything new at all? Has he done anything so outstanding that he deserves recognition for it? Or has he just recycled the same crap thats literally everywhere today.. Hmmm. Lets think..

Hypnotised or Mesmerized 11-28-2005 03:37 PM

you cannot say that soad have recycled the same crap thats in music today as they are totally different from whats around today
You cant put them in one category
They are one of the most original and innovative bands in the world today
And Daron Malakian is not a failure as he has done a lot more for music than a lot of other artists have

bungalow 11-28-2005 03:39 PM

She wasnt talking about Daron. Read the quote...geez. And I love System of a Down....but Daron is no Hendrix

I wasnt talking about SOAD.

Hence why I quoted Trivium.

Calm down

Hypnotised or Mesmerized 11-28-2005 03:42 PM

Sorry im a dodo

hookers with machineguns 11-28-2005 03:42 PM

Musicbanter would have exactly 2022 total posts if SOAD didn't exist.

Why do they have to be from heavier styled bands? IMO Daron is not that good of a guitarist, because for one he constantly uses droped tunings which is good and all but really most of his stuff is like Green Day in the since that it is power chords set to overdrive. Then all the little solo stuff is mostly just the major scale with some accidentals thrown in so it has some variation and again that is good but he should not be placed with Flea and who is this many more guy/girl? I haven't heard of them. :)

bungalow 11-28-2005 03:52 PM

There is no way Daron is a rock god. Good guitar player=yes.........God=no

Especially not to be compared with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Page, and Slash

ArtistInTheAmbulance 11-28-2005 03:55 PM

Hes pretty much just picked his favourite bands and chosen the guitarists from them. That hardly makes them "future rock gods" Im fraid.

mosesandtherubberducky 11-28-2005 03:59 PM

Should we fix his/her list?

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 11-28-2005 03:59 PM

ok....in my opinion

maynard james keenan and danny carey of tool,
anthony green (for his work with "the sounds of animals fighting")
jason bittner, john donais and matt bachand of shadows fall,

just to name a few.....ill list more later.

kob 11-28-2005 05:45 PM

boo boo 11-28-2005 06:49 PM

If anyone mentions Mark Tremonti, please ban them.

bungalow 11-28-2005 06:51 PM

What is wrong with Mark Tremonti, I think he is a great guitarist, Alter Bridge is awesome......Creed ruled. He rocks. PERIOD

JUST KIDDING HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAH

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 11-28-2005 08:13 PM

....that is possibly the best post ive ever seen you make.........*pats bungalowbill on back* good call.

Merkaba 11-28-2005 09:33 PM

Cool thread.

I hope Jack White becomes a future rock god.

sleepy jack 11-28-2005 09:35 PM

I think danzig is long overdue to be considered one.
He maybe arrogant but hell tons of rock gods are.

Yeah he will, im not concerned, and he will the right way, not by dying.

boo boo 11-28-2005 10:12 PM

Im rooting for The Mars Volta, i think they can reach rock god status if 20 years from now (hopefuly they will still be together) they make albums that match or even surpass Deloused and Frances in quality.

If anybody can bring prog back to the mainstream, it would be those guys.

TheBig3 11-28-2005 10:24 PM

Beck, Courtney Taylor-Taylor, Amanda Palmer

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 11-28-2005 11:25 PM

^good call on beck

No. He's an ok guitarist in a medicore band writing songs about George Bush and their penises...yawn...I used to hate political rock, now I just hate political rock thats done wrongly. I mean SOAD in BYOB stole one of Black Sabbath's lyrics!

"Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor"

So I dont reckon Daron Malakian should even be considered as a rock god, because his music hasn't effected people the way other legends you mentioned have. SOAD are just re-marketing anti-government music which has been around for AGES.

MrFloyd 11-29-2005 04:52 PM

I don't know if he's deserving but Trent Reznor maybe ? Or maybe one of the guys from mettallica.

Laces Out Dan! 11-29-2005 05:58 PM

Well i think if Symphony X ever gets more into the mainstream that Both Michael Romeo and Russel Allen could easily be future rock gods....Michael Romeo especially....He is an amazingly accomplished guitarist and he writes all music for the Band....he writes amazing riffs and killer lyrics

Forget what the duck says, you took the letters away from my keyboard.

if you don't think the Hammet/Hetfeild combo is on par with Richards/Jagger or Page/Plant, then I don't want to talk to you (if your posting here I probably didn't want to anyway)

And I think Homme is about 2 good albums away from RG staus.
