Without hesitation I can say that Inquisition are my favorite black metal band. They excel at creating a ritualistic/occult atmosphere, but Dagon is talented enough to write amazing riff after amazing riff. Dagon and Incubus have been the model of consistency so far, and yet each album does not sound exactly like the one before it. I also have to appreciate any band that can generate such a full and heavy sound using only a guitarist and drummer.

Black metal - Funeral Mist

Extreme metal in general - Arkhon Infaustus
