I like when they cover "Hot For Teacher" live.

Irony Is A Dead Scene is pretty different from their other material, mostly due to the presence of Mike Patton. I would say the most similar of their other albums is Ire Works (which is also my favorite)... lots of crazy stuff going on on that one,

I really like Ire Works, and Miss Machine. Haven't listened to their newest one yet, but will probably check into it soon enough.

Irony is a Dead Scene is good but way too short. I also feel that it was more a turning point for DEP, and anything after it is much better. Really glad for the Patton involvement/influence though. It sets them apart. It's what opened a window for them to set themselves apart, and produce some truly brilliant music. Albeit, I think the album itself is good not great.

i sampled a few songs and came to a general conclusion that i like the music and varied style of the newer albums, but i'm not a huge fan of the vocals. i much prefer their old vocalist, or patton

i'll still prob check into ire works though, since you seem to think its an 'absolute masterpiece'

I'm surprised to hear that you like their old vocalist, Dimitri, more. While his voice certainly suited their sound, it wasn't near as powerful as Greg Puciato's.

Greg's vocal styles are definitely similar to Mike's. Miss Machine is what I'd recommend listening to. It's a much stronger album than Ire Works, and imo presents what Dillinger does from Calculating in a catchier more accessable format. I do prefer Irony and calculating personally, but I can't say I'm not a fan of anything DEP has done.

To be honest, that's how I would describe Option Paralysis.

What are everyone's rankings for DEP albums?

mine:

Ire Works > Operation Paralysis > Miss Machine > Calculating Infinity

Although I love them all and my list changes alot. I think Ire Works is overall my favourite though, it was the first one I heard and it got me into DEP.

It's Option Paralysis

Irony Is a Dead Scene > Option Paralysis > Calculating Infinity > Ire Works > Miss Machine

Just off the top of my head, haven't listened in a while
