Yes, Cobain is the best. At his style, fame, death, etc. There is no best, (in my opinion). Only the best of the best, and the best at they're style of music. A personal favorite, one of our influences, etc., is everyone's Best, therefore, who is the best?

Now that i think of it tho, i think the best is def possible to find. The best would be whoever did the most for guitar, and was the most inventive/revolutionary. In my opinion Hendrix left the biggest mark on the guitar, and no one has really come close to that. (not saying there arnt people who are better, just not as important to the instrument)

I agree with you completly RezZ. There is just as much, of everything to consider, when getting to the true answer's concerning music, more than other subjects of life period. The great thing about music. Is there may never, be an answer that can be truely provided. But we are all...., on the same page.

How in the world could you start a thread about the greatest guitarists and then mention kurt cobain? He plays the same 4 chords in like every nirvana song.

Simplicity is one of the major rules. Just as important as being technical, at any level of talent, for that matter, as a musician. Opinions & personal views, etc, Are just as important also. To songwriters, producers. The music industry altogether. To succeed as an artist, One must possess the talent & mature always. As a musician/Artist. Within any era of the music industry past & present. (keep an open mind/be versatile).

Perhaps because his four-chord songs had a bigger impact than any song Yngwie Malmsteen's ever written using the entire fretboard.
