Candlemass is the ****. I haven't listened to a whole lot of doom, but My Dying Bride is also pretty awesome. The best is My Chemical Romance though. And Madonna.

Warning. <3

That is all.

however

I need to go check out some Candlemass or something since my doom collection is seriously lacking. Any particularly good stuff?

Warning and While Heaven Wept are utter delights to listen to!!
They just work for me and I really enjoy listening to them!

Yeah I do, it's great music to zone out to. Good uplifting music! What kind of question is that by the way? Does it make you happy listening to doom as well?

It makes me very happy listening to doom!!!
The lyrical content is, however, not exactly uplifting so I was wondering if I was just the weird one by saying that it makes me very happy listening to people singing about their problems, whether is be loneliness, fear, rejection or someone's soul being crushed by a loved one.

If anything those peoples problems don't bother me, but I feel connected with the lyrics. I feel all those things and it makes me happy to know that I'm not alone that those people have the same problems that I'm not the only one.

I'm a huge fan of doom metal. Any kind of doom metal, too. My favorites are the retro doom metal/70s rock/occult doom or NWOBHM/Doom type stuff lol. Bands like Blood Ceremony, Orchid, Briton Rites, Hour of 13, Wooden Stake, Blood Farmers, Paul Chain, Ghost, Witchfinder General, Pagan Altar, The Coven, Orchid, Witchcraft, Burning Saviours, Witch, Pale Divine and so on. I also obviously love the classics, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Trouble, Cathedral, Candlemass, Electric Wizard, Sleep, and so own. Plus Warning, Lord Vicar, Apostle of Solitude, The Gates of Slumber, Griftegard, Reverend Bizarre, Sinister Realm. As for sludge, Eyehategod, Noothgrush, Dystopia, Grief, Leechmilk, Acid Bath, Buzzoven, Brainoil, Men in Search of the Perfect Weapon, Hail!Hornet, Howl, Iron Monkey, Noosebomb, Sea of Deprivation, Old Mayor, and Vault Dweller, and many many more.

Sorry for the long drawn out post but seeing other doom metal fans from time to time is nice.

Anything with "Wino" on it is usually pretty solid. Checkout St. Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan (IMO his best band), The Hidden Hand (2nd Favorite), Places of Skulls (w/ Victor Griffin) and Shrinebuilder (band members from Sleep, Neurosis and Melvins).
