Few of those are questionable as metal but I'm not gonna start genre wars. Definitely better picks than most kids.

I don't think they knew what they were doing, but Transcendence Into The Peripheral stands tall in metal.
Not drone doom. TITP is awesome though. Only drone doom band I have time for is Hjarnidaudi

I didn't say it was drone doom. There were drone-doom like elements to it that other people took and expanded on. There are parts of that album that are even more funeral than Ahab...once you get that slow, it's drone doom.

note: drone-doom and drone are not the same thing

Drone has more to do with ambiance than speed. Drone doom is highly repetitive "riffs" with heavy amounts of noise and ambient sounds adding to the texture.

By the way, I feel like an ass arguing the minute differences, but to those who don't know, the differences are real! I swear!

Yeah no ****

But yep when you listen to metal long enough, even minute differences in genres/bands becomes apparent. I stay the **** away from the whole deathcore/metalcore thing though...except to say that breakdowns have been in death metal since day one, and leave it at that.

Have you heard their cover of Rasputin? It is so good, and lulzworthy.

Deathcore is IMO a non-existent genre. I bands that are considered deathcore are just a bit more melodic than the average metalcore band.
