metallica- 1st band that got me into metal (b4 hand i was listening to ****ty dance music)- song- enter sandman
killswitch engage- i love the guitars and howard jones vocals, song-rose of sharyn
shadows fall- guitar work is beautiful, love the dreds, song- a fire in babylon
mudvayne- fell in love with the original sound of the band, song - dig
slipknot - the fact that there were 9 guys in the band and they wore sweet masks and the sound was brutal, song - left behind
mushroomhead (pre break up)- the mix of the two singers made the music sound scary, plus the sweet masks, song - sun doesnt rise
system of a down - their sound is so much different from everyone else's, serj's vocals, song - sugar
children of bodom- 1st euro metal band, loved the fast guitars and the harmony, very melodic, song - every time i die
nightwish - heard it once on launch and fell in love, something about chicks and metal drives me wild, song - wish i had an angel
BLS- zack wylde is a master guitarist, i wish i could play as good as him, song - suicide messiah
theres too many metal bands that deserve on my list. this is just a shortened version

Nightwish is ****ing sweet. Tarja has an amazing voice. Wish I had that range. Unfortunately I can only hit a high E on a good day. I'm a mezzo-sop and proud of it.

Avenged Sevenfold(earlier stuff was great, sad that Shadows has to ease on the screaming)

Cradle of Filth(Dani has a strange tone in his screaming. The music is just beautiful in my opinion. Terrific stories. Damnation and a Day is one of the best albums ever.)

AFI(I like the later stuff, like Sing the Sorrow, nice riffs and Davey has a good voice)

My Chemical Romance(Like both old and new)

Mindless Self Indulgence(great band live, love the sound)

Weezer(From Blue Album to Make Believe, great band. Love the lyrics)

Red Hot Chili Peppers(Nothing I could say about this band would justify my love. Talented and wonderful)

No Doubt(I fell in love when they first came out with self titled No Doubt but they slowly wound down. Return of Saturn was the breaking point)

Modest Mouse(Weird vocals....dont like vocals too much, but lyrics are great and melodies are great)

Motley Crue(Also great live. Oh, what I wouldnt give to party with them. Nikki Sixx is a great wongwriter and he's a ****ing badass.)

HIM(Ville Valo has a great range and a nice crooner voice. nuff said)

Dresden Dolls(Just weird. Awesome lyrics)

HelloGoodbye(more of a pop-punk thing. But the tunes are catchy)

Pavement(strange mix of country, blues and rock. It just sounds good. They also did a great cover of "The Killing Moon" by Echo and the Bunnymen. They remind me of the Cure)

Lacuna Coil(Its nice hearing a frontWOMAN sometimes)

We Are Wolves(Also just really weird band. Kinda fun to listen to)

The Cure(I'm an 80s child at heart, born in the wrong decade. I mean, I can pull off the hair and I prefer 80s music to much of today's. I just love the Cure in all aspects....'cept Robert Smith's hair because he's scary to watch)

Xiu Xiu(Although there is one song that just scares me...I like the originality)
Hawthorne Heights(Really sucks live. But I still love Ohio is for Lovers. Call me a loser, I'll admit it)

69 Eyes(Just got into this band after hearing a demo. Sounds just like Type O Negative, but more meoldic. And Type O Negative does really bad covers)

Twisted Sister(I almost got a internship at the company that manages them. Oh, I would love to meet Dee Snider. He could kick anyones ass in makeup!)

Marilyn Manson(Love the sound, not nescessarily him. He is ****ed up in the head)

Ozzy Osbourne(Along with Black Sabbath. And who doesnt like Ozzy, c'mon)

Rammstein(All around fun to listen to)
and

Blind Guardian(really talented band, love the vocals. Interesting stories to tell through their lyrics.)

I think I got most of my favorite bands. I'm interested to read what everyone else has to say.

Neutral Milk Hotel- I swear, these guys are absolutely amazing. I could listen to In The Aeroplane Over The Sea every second of every day, and never get bored of the songs. Plus, they're from Elephant 6, based in....Georgia! So that makes them cool all by itself.

The Decemberists- I love how with all of Colin's lyrics, it is like he is re-telling a story. This band is catchy as hell, they have great lyrics, really fun band. The 'sailor-ish' thing they've got going is...strange, but it works. This band is absolutly great.

Belle and Sebastian- Twee at its best. Really great pop music. Every song is just as catchy as the last, and this band can be listened to for hours on end and you'll never tire. Not to mention the fact that, it seems as though they cannot make a bad album (we'll forgive storytelling)

Sigur Ros- I really love post rock, and I really love this band. As far as post rock goes, these guys run a close race with Explosions in the Sky. I bough (),and I downloaded all of their ither albums. Each one is brilliantly put together. All the songs flow, and have a really dreamy quality to them. Great Stuff.

Immortal Technique- One of the most intelligent rappers out there. He isnt afraid to wip out the big time words in his raps, or to face contraversial issues with his songs. Everytime I listen to Dance With the Devil, I always get the exact sane reaction out of myself. The tension builds and builds, untill the conclusion of the song, at which I am still shocked at hearing, even though I've listened through the song multiple times.

Stars- "When there is nothing left to burn, you must set yourself on fire" The fact that that is at the begining of the album, is just cool enough to land them a slot in my list of favorite bands. But the music that follows is just as great. Wonderful band, awesome way to intro an album. Well done Stars!

and last, but not least

U2- Haha, just kidding

Default here ya go

coheed and cambria( this has to be my fav band, they are blessed with amazing musical talents, all of them excpet having extensive musical backgrounds. if you love this band and wan to hear some crazy **** that claudio did with the orig name of the band and see what he was doing before coheed and laid off the drugs some, look up shabutie)

underoath( i love this band, they are hard, but ood vocals and songs you learn to love, whether you want to or not, they are definatly going places and i'll be there with them at every show that comes in the detroit area, fo sho)

COF( cradle is pretty amazing, i really did hate them the first time i heard them after seeing them i was out, but then i heard them for what they were, poetic and hard as hell, a definate fav these days, can't get enough)

from first to last( what can i say, i love many kinds and fftl is stylish vocals and good musical ability and nightmarish songs in general, a total reccomendation)

evanescence( amazing voice, metalish sound in the back ground, like nightwish, only more singable music)

atreyu
(amazing vocals and presence, they totally blow me away with every new thing i hear from them)

as i lay dying( totally awesome metal, dark, screaming, and wants me want to see them live more than anyone else right now)

HIM( really dark, deep sound that i can't get nough of, i look past the flamboyant sometimes irritatin image of the band, and just listen to the tunes, and it's all good)

say anything( i recently started to listening to this band, but they really are a unique revelant sound to me, i just makes me move my head and sing along with all the sings, and isn't that what music is supposed to do?)

ram jam
( i mean black betty is one of the best views on the 70's as i can put it, it shows the ideas and styles of that era and makes me so pumped up when i hear it)

johnny cash( dude man in black, he was revolutionary, when asked i cannot give you sepcific reason i enjoy this man so much, he's just who he is, a legend)

kansas( along with boston they're just amazing "carry on my wayward son" brings tears to my eyes to be honest, only amazing music can really affect you like that.)

bob dylan( tho his singing was a bit irritating at times, he is classic and you have to put respect where it's do)

boston( they're classic more than a feeling makes me so happy and carefree and nostalgic of my younger years it's worth listening to it so loud that i i'm experiencing permanent hearing damage b/c of it)

korn
(old **** only, they were really awesome when they first came onto the scene, but they are a we bit too commercial for me now, and like tim burton the ****ing ***goty goth kids had to mess them up as well as some other bands i used to hold in high regard)

system of a down( they're insanly talented, different and they rock hard, i love them i had to buy toxcicity several times and it was bloody worth every damn time)

blink 182
(yeah i said it this band was a huge part of life growing up in middle school seriously, they were everything to me then, them and system, they struck in a way that got me into music)

matisyahu( they're happy, hip hoppy reggae i like it, they also look like rabbis lol)

neil diamond( dude it's ****ing neil diamond, whats not to love, he started the feel good casino lounge singing, old women and i swoon to his melodic voice)

nightmare of you( you know personally why they're so sweet piper, you turned me onto them, new inventive, crazy lyrics and a great sound all togther)

throwdown( some of the best metal i've heard in a while, they're truly hard and get's you going, watch out if i'm in a crowded room and listening to this, there will be some moshing dammit)

terminal( all i thought when i heard these guys for the first time is "wow sundance here they come, so weird and independent movie feelish, but enjoyable)

smoking popes( amazing inventive and unique, what the who was in the 60's in my mind, tho indie and not my favs, they are pretty sweet)

You should get some Nick Drake & see where they stole all their ideas from
