love Sparta, i prefer them to Mars Volta and always have, but i still prefer ATDI to both of them. and i think it sucks how Sparta always get under rated and seem to be viewed as second best sometimes to Mars Volta, thats if people even start listening to them in the first place.

Porcelain is an great album. I don't think they're second rate at all. I much prefer Sparta over ATDI and TMV. They're plain awesome.

Sparta's amazing.
The first time I listened to them I didn't think much of them. Then I saw them live and it was a done deal. I'm a fan for life.
As for comparing them to Mars Volta. . .
I think I like Mars Volta and Sparta equally. But I definitely like ATDI more than Sparta.
Omar Rodriguez - Lopez is an amazing musician. I like him more as a member of ATDI than Mars Volta. And the lyrics are amazing. I swear this guy is on crack or something when he comes up with some of this stuff.

I've never been to crazy for Sparta, just never really caught my interest too much, I heard them a couple of years ago when my friend wouldn't shut up about them and then I wanted to smack him because they just aren't that great imo. Mars Volta on the other hand is amazing.
