Colony is really good as is The Jester Race. Soundtrack To Your Escape isn't new metal at all. It takes time to grow on you but its just the evolution of their music. I hates STYE and RTR when I first got them, but now I listen to it all the time.

IN FLAMES?
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR.
One of the ONLY few good bands left.
Unlike the rest of the crap being called music that's out there today, In Flames doesn't strive to be the angriest, scariest, most depressed people they can be, they strive to be GREAT musicians and do a great job.
I long for the day when bands get back to that state of mind.

Their older stuff was much better. Their last album was horrible.

Oh, there's an argument, and that's that melodic death metal sucks (because all metal sucks bar prog).
But let's assume it doesn't, then I would have to insist that the best melodic death metal album by far is "The Chainheart Machine" by Soilwork. And although In Flames gave birth to Soilwork - nothing is in the same stratosphere as that in regards to melodic death metal.

You are an idiot on this point my friend.

In Flames (along with At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity) invented and perfected the genre.

Now I can't really understand why you hate metal. Metal rules and that's all there is too it. Go listen to Cynic and try and tell me it isn't the best band ever. You can't. Cause they really are.

Smoke some weed and mellow the **** out. You flip **** on everyone and you dont even know what you are talking about. Stop combing metal review sites trying to find something better.

I'm gonna go listen to Cynic more. And I can YSI if you need me too.

At the Gates have one decent album, namely "Slaughter of the Soul," and it was fun playing drums to. But like all metal (besides prog of course) it gets boring fast.

And I obviously don't blame you for not understanding - if your brain power was at the same level of mine, you'd understand, 'friend.'

PS: Cynic are part prog metal, and I never said I hated them; they are mildly okay. Let's say: better than Opeth, but that's nothing special.
