You know its odd that someone like Hammet, that trains at the conservatory, and can play multiple styles and really adds layers and text to songs, uses counterpuntal interplay and is responsible for steering Metallica away from their Load phase would be regarded as second to mustaine.

And I didn't mean insular in that your music doesn't get played everywhere, I meant insular in that you have blinders on to the rest of music. Are great majority of you only listen to Metal, and it limits your ability to debate objectively in my opinion

I don't see how you can credit Hammet with steering them away from the Load phase. Load was when he started really writing for Metallica, and Reload was written at the same time as Load, so the only place they went from their was St. Anger, and as much as I hate Load, it kicks the **** out of St. Anger. Also I'm not sure what other styles of music he has demonstrated in his playing besides Metal and blues, two genres of playing Dave plays quite well.

Also when you say that metal fans don't listen to other kinds of music what are you basing that off of? I will admit I am a pretty strictly metal guy, but thats not because its all I listen to, its because I listen to a lot and thats all I like. I used to like rap when I was young, but one day you grow up and say ,"what the **** am I listening to?" My dad got me into Zeppelin after that, and from there I moved onto metal.

"St. Anger" is a good song.

You mean back when Cliff Burton was still around, right? I think without Cliff keeping tabs on Lars "All Bitch" they didn't really lose quality just...lost focus. They used to have some direction, a drive to be original. Now they ain't any different than Dry Kill Logic or Drowning Pool far as I'm concerned...hope my girl don't read that.

I think they went downhill when they lost Ron McGovney.

lol I've never even heard it, but I have some early bootleg of the band with McGovney and Mustaine. It's pretty hard to judge as the sound quality is horrible.
