That's a little disappointing to hear. It'll still be on my list of albums to buy with Christmas money though, I think!

For other Claypool-starved europeans like me, Primus have announced a Europe Tour, including two nights in London. Two relatively cheap nights at that, tickets seem to be about £30. I'm bumping this partially because I wanted to express my excitement, but also to ask: has anyone here seen them live, preferably recently? What are they like? Is it worth me making sure I get tickets this year despite their promise to come back next year? I'm currently mega-broke, but with jobs on the Horizon, but I don't know if I trust them not to sell out, seeing as they haven't been over here in 14 goddamn years...

Also, has anyone listened to the New album, Green Naugahyde? I read a Review which spoke highly of it, but I'm always wary of Reviews these days...
I'd say go for it on the album and the concert. I doubt you'll regret it.

I find Green Naughahyde to be an excellent romp with Claypool and friends...

I've never heard a mediocre Claypool album... even Fancy band stuff, mushroom men I find to be perfect. Claypool never does wrong in my book.

I think Claypool is a genius, but I like Primus because it's the "poppy" and "metal-y" side of Claypool. He's simply too "out there" for me on his solo stuff...

I'm a big Primus fan. I saw them earlier this year, it was a great show. I saw Claypool's solo show the year before that - they played many songs off Of Fungi and Foe - and I thought it was better than the Primus show I saw. The crowd at his solo show was the loudest crowd I've ever experienced. The atmosphere was just crazy. They closed the show with Spirit of the Radio, it was killer. Before they played the song, Claypool said: "Not many people know this, but this song was actually written by Bootsy Collins." Not sure what that was about, haha.

Well it's a Rush song. And he's being misleading, saying it's a Bootsy song. He's a tricky sumbeeotch.

Spirit of the Radio is a song Rush opened with at their concert. Hmm

Yes, I know it is a Rush song. I just didn't understand why he said it was a Bootsy song. I guess he was just joking. Or maybe Rush secretly stole the song from Bootsy. I doubt it. Doesn't seem like a Bootsy song

Like I said, he's just being misleading to get a laugh. Most music fans know what it is. So it'll confuse some and get a tongue-in-cheek smile out of a lot of us.

I got a laugh out of it and assumed that he was joking. But then I thought: "what if he knows something that we don't?" hahah. Typical claypool, always joking around every time I've seen him.

Primus is one of those bands I really need to catch up on. I got Sailing the Seas of Cheese when it came out on merit of Tom Waits doing the vocals for Tommy the Cat but besides the excellence of that track I'm not sure the rest of the album did that much for me. Having just realised they continued their career despite my lack of attention I'm thinking maybe they deserve a second chance. So.... recommendations?

Id give "fizzle fry" a listen. Pretty good album, "when the toys go winding down" is probably one of my favorites from them.
