when did i think you were 12? age doesn't matter, it's all about the fact that your taste in music sucks. i don't care what you care about, don't diss works of art when you listen to mainstream trash.

People like them because they are good, they were grunge but they were a different kind of grunge. They didn't have the same sound as Nirvana or Pearl Jam they were more close to metal and that appealed to a larger crowd since it was the early 90s when they got big.

Music Is Pwnage 11-13-2005 07:05 PM

^dude, i love your sig!!

Merkaba 11-13-2005 07:07 PM

Oh lovely, we're back on topic now.

I'd almost definitely class them in the same sound as Nirvana, but yes, they were more metal. Dirt was their big break through.

mosesandtherubberducky 11-13-2005 07:34 PM

yeah, in the unplugged one they joke about not doing a gig in a while its funny :)

your logic baffles me, i happen to be very proud of the fact that i have an extremely diverse taste in music, unlike you, i coudn't care less if a certain band is mainstream or not, i just like good music and i'm really not concerned if you think it's good or not

?? em...obviously you don't like acid jazz/funk, but i don't see anything funny about liking jamiroqui, there were many other universaly disliked bands on that list that you could have laughed at.....and i still would give a toss....

no no no it's not just a certain band. mostly EVERY band in your list is mainstream. but the mainstreamness doesnt really matter, its the fact that its all mainstream TRASH! lemme guess, you like maroon 5 too? i love how people think my music taste isn't diverse. they just assume it because i don't like a certain genre they like. look at my list. i happen to listen to many different kinds of ROCK. you, on the other hand, have only trashy untalented mainstream on your list with your hint of good classic rock.

for your information i detest marron 5, and most but not all the bands i listen to are mainstream, and the fact that you think RATM, coldplay or franz ferdinand are trashy mainstream says plenty, i reitterate, i really don't care what you think about my taste in music, music taste is subjective, so the fact that you think something i listen to is trash doesn't matter, i for one think iron maiden is mainstream trash , but you'll still listen to them anyway....

Acid Jazz/Funk?, are you kidding me?, first you call Iron Maiden hair metal then Jamiroqui Jazz?...Dude, your genre classification sucks.

Jamiroqui is like easy listenings answer to hip hop.

dude, you should get your facts straight before you go dissin someone, if you look it up, jamiroqui's first couple of albums are classified under acid jazz, later it transformed into funk,
" Acid Jazz - the term is used to cover a wide range of music. Originating back in 1987 in the UK dance scene it defined a funky music style which incorporated elements of jazz, 70s funk, hip-hop, soul, and latin grooves. It could be all live, it could be sampled, and it could be a mixture of the both. The focus was on the music and not on the lyrics/words. The music has a definite groove, some is high energy dance normally with a Latin groove whilst others are more contemplative."
and now you're saying jamiroqui is hip hop?!....i suggest you stop listening to iron maiden , it's clearly destroying your brain cells....

theres really nothing special about Alice in Chains nowdays, but when they got big, it was during the whole Seattle grunge movement and they were one of the best out of a long list of shitty bands that were grouped together because of the new genre that everyone was so crazy about.

edit: rooster is a good song too adidasss

Merkaba 11-15-2005 01:33 PM

Seconded, yeeeeeaaaaah they've come to snuff the rooooosssttter.

mosesandtherubberducky 11-15-2005 05:19 PM

Intro (Dream Sequence) is funny. At the end someone yells RED RUM and it goes into Hate To Feel, and what is Layn (sp?) talking about in Anger Chair?

You're a fool for thinking the likes of RATM or Bob Marley are mainstream, and even if they were (which they're not) how does that in anyway equate to poor music tastes? When RATM came out, they were different, it's only because they we so good, that they're now considered one of the best bands of the 90's. Bob Marley is a legend...

Coldplay are mainstream, but again, why does that mean their music is bad?

Edit: I only have AIC's Dirt album, but I think it's very good. Rooster, Bones, Would, Rain When I die, etc are all awesome songs.

nice :) but to you who mr. music is pwnage he is entitled to listen to what ever he wants and so are you. everyone is and we can critisize everyone about everything but that will get us no where in the end of the day so lets all just go sit down in front of a big T.V. and watch Family Guy

Chronic 11-15-2005 05:41 PM

But seriously who doesn't like Bob Marley? I'm yet to meet one person who doesn't...

mosesandtherubberducky 11-15-2005 05:43 PM

It is against the laws of physics because if you don't like Bob Marly then you cannot truely enjoy Jamacia to the full extent (including the weed)... I think that Bob Marly's hair is really God's stash and that if any one were to smoke it they would die of the holy-ness of the hit.

1. Grunge was really more of a movement than a genre, it didnt have a consistant sound in the same way Metal, Punk and Prog does...It was just a term used to catagorize the bands coming from the Seattle rock scene, if you were from Seattle, have long hair, flannel shirts and a detuned, distorted guitar, you are considered grunge.

2. I like most bands from the grunge scene, i think there were some talented bands who were never given enough credit because they were given a lousy label. So too each his own.
