30 Seconds to Mars
 

i have heard that their first album is better than their new one. Is this true? How is it better?

I heard whatever their new single is that they released and wow is that a raging peice of ****. Jared leto should stick to acting where I can't accidentally flip by his movie for at least another 5 years.

The words were cool in 1997...maybe. Hard Grunge is dead stupid, quit making that kind of music.

Every one I know hypes this band and considers them like groundbreaking and amazing. I don't what all the fuss is about.

the fuss is you're hanging out with white suburban kids who think their both intellectual and put upon. Tell them to go mow the lawn and accept that their just as stupid as the kids who shop at American Eagle that they hate so much. They just happen to be uglier.

What I've heard ranges from crap to mediocore.

I like them. I like their song. I don't think they're rock gods or anything. Um.
But their older stuff is better. I don't know why.

And I think Jared Leto sucked as an actor. Except for his role in Requiem for a dreamer because he looks like he's on drugs allt he time anyways. Perfect role for him. (And yet he still so f-ing hot.)

I forgot to say when I posted that I saw them live several months ago when they put on a free show in my town. Their sound sucked, it wasn't their fault, but it was impossible to enjoy the concert.

rock gods, definetly not. but theyre definetly catchy and i guess that woudl mean they're good .. depending on your standards. but yeah, dont hate just cause jared leto wants to be a rockkkker.

They are alright. I'm not really a fan of "The Kill" on of my friends let me borrow A Beautiful Lie. It was alright but it wasn't anything speical. I really like the song "Attack" though.

I listened to them on account of seemingly being the only person here who`s never heard of them.

30 Seconds to Mars?

10 Seconds before I vowed myself to never ever listen to this sh*t again.

And just to show how predictable this band probably are , all the following speculation is based on hearing 10 seconds of one song.......

They`re your typical post grunge MTV favourites with a pretty boy singer looking mean & moody.
The song starts out with a loud crashing (yet predictable) riff before slowing down allowing a close up on the pretty boy singer looking pain & angushed and he mumbles about something painful like a girl leaving him or his cat dying or whatever.
Then suddenly the main riff comes back & we get the singalong chorus probably filled with stuff about not being broken or defeated or you won`t ruin my life because only I can understand my pain type bullsh*t.
Then the song goes slower again but not quite as slow and the vocalist is starting to sing a little louder & sound a little more pained before we reach the chorus again.
Then we go into a refrain of the first verse , only sung really aggressively and the vocalist will be throwing himself against walls in some isolated room or corridor while it`s shot in black & white looking even more pained & angushed than ever before , yet still looking cute to please all the watching teenage girl and then we get the chorus again before the song closes with a shot of a dove or something flying into the sky.

In other words just like every other angsty rock band of the past 15 years.

I'm a little fan girl about 30 Seconds to Mars. I LOVE their new CD Beautiful Lie....and I like the song Beautiful Lie the most. I can just connect with their lyrics so much.

i think this band are really good, not special though!

Beautiful Lie is an awesome album and the best track is 'Attack'!!! I've never seen this guy act so hopefully he will stick with the music!!!

Yuck. They may be somewhat catchy but come on- they have Jared Leto- one of the biggest posers of all time...and I think I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

From Yesterday and The Kill are great songs, for those who do not like 30 Seconds To Mars, um.......why take time to complain about them, dont yall have lives(i admit i dont). it depends on the persons taste in music if they like em or hate em, most people seem to hate em, most people i am friends with like em so i guess it also depends on personality. (bad idea saying that From Yesterday and The Kill are great songs, preparing to be overcome by insaults)

It takes 10 seconds to type up a reply pointing out the obvious suck that is 30 Seconds Of Mars, I woudn't say someone didn't have a life if they bashed them.

This being said they suck.

They make boring music. Lame vocals, lame lyrics, lame music. They're your typical mtv rock band. I'd like you to explain how they don't suck.

first off, every thing you said is a matter of opinion. MY opinion on other thinks that the music has a good sound, the lyrics are decent not the greatest, and the vocals i believe are pretty good, and i havent seen anything of theirs on mtv

You havn't seen them on MTV? Read here, and just search MTV plenty will come up.

And its not a matter of opinion, all their guitar riffs are simple, and not simple in a good way. Simple in a wow thats easy and doesn't sound good. The same about their bass lines, and their drummer isn't good. The vocals are completely average, and don't stand out at all theirs other bands with similar singers.

The lyrics do suck, have you read the words to the Kill? a bunch of repeated bland lines. Like the vocals, its not the most original thing either.

but thats a matter of opinion! what you said is all opinion, and others can agree with me that they are a good band. Tell me define original for the music world, what riff hasnt been done, what lines havent been said, what ideas have not been used, its been pretty much all done

Quit using the opinion argument, it works both ways for one so its pretty invalid. I believe beat yr own kid said it "ever notice how people who use that argument typically have bad taste in music?".

Also theirs plenty of riffs and lines that havn't been done, if their wasn't there would be a lot of lawsuits going around. Their is of original music out today, just because you only listen to the classic rock station and watch FUSE to get your music doesn't mean everyone else does.

Also this is a music forum for music debate, its pretty lame if everyone walks around going "LOLZ JUST AN OPINION NOW STFU".

and yes most riffs and lines have been done, whos to say how many small time band thats been playin in clubs for years and never made it big havent already come up with lines that are being used by the big name bands. you cant tell what riffs been used by a small time band.

i will keep using the same arguement unitl you can find a way for me to shut up about it, until you can come up with a better arguement than just saying "they suck", i will not stop using the same arguement.

No they havn't, especially with something like lyrics. Please give me an example of the same lyrics being used twice and no law suit being involved.

And you know what, I doubt theirs thousands of small bands that are being ripped off constantly riff wise. Your argument is hypothetical and lacks proof.

I made a post a bit more in depth then they suck, but really when a band sucks you can't add much else. Everything about them is boring, bland, unoriginal and done before. They bring nothing new to the table, and the table happens to suck.

i didnt see no depth in your arguements, all i see is something my 9 year old sister would come up with. i havent seen shit from anyone with a good reason to say they suckits all been there boring crap...well not to me and many i know
