Chiodos

They are pretty good, what do you all think of them?
I havent decided if the singers voice is unique or annoying.

riseagainstrocks 11-03-2005 05:42 PM

i like the keyboards. my friend's band is playing with them in a few weeks i think. other than that, they aren't really unique

Trauma 11-03-2005 06:10 PM

Yeah, my friend went and saw them one or two weekends ago at The Blind Pig.
He played their c.d. in the car today.
Not bad at all.
I like the vox, guitar riffs are extremely catchy, with a bunch of little pull off flips and $hit, and nice fills with drum beats.
I would go see them live, he said they were awesome.

SharksAndDanger 11-05-2005 01:07 AM

they are magnificent

i reckon "who's sandie jenkins"

IamAlejo 11-05-2005 07:39 AM

They were just on tour with fall of troy and transistor transistor a little bit ago. Not sure if that was the show you're friend saw. If so, I'm pretty damn jealous.

EDGE 01-15-2006 12:47 PM

yeah, I don't see where "unique" comes into play. The singer sounds alot like Circa Survive's singer.

The Dave 06-18-2006 11:10 AM

Chiodos

Pretty good emo/punk band here. They're signed to Equal Vision Records which is the same label as Coheed, Fall of Troy and Circa Survive anre sgined to. Check out their stuff here www.purevolume.com/chiodos

swim 06-18-2006 11:13 AM

Isn't that thread too old to post in? I never saw a rule about posting on old threads but that one is over a year dead.

swim 06-18-2006 11:17 AM

It doesnt matter. You always bump band threads instead of making your own.

Okay, sorry about that then, thanks.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-18-2006 03:40 PM

I think they are highly overhyped in the scene, considering they aren't THAT great... at all.

The Dave 06-18-2006 09:05 PM

I'm not sure what scene your referring to, there isn't much of one where I live, but Chiodos isn't too bad at all. They're not one of my favorites but they are worth listening to.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-18-2006 09:10 PM

Any kid I see in girl pants is wearing something with the word Chiodos on it around here. Or even a lip ring for that matter. It's bad.

I mean I can respect what they are doing with the post hardcore stuff, but it's really not anything to get excited over.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-18-2006 11:06 PM

They're far overhyped here as well. I don't mind them, but they get way more credit in the "scene" than they are worth.

IamAlejo 06-19-2006 12:17 PM

The singer has pretty good range on his voice, but i can only stand it for periods of time and it starts to wear on me. it's alright, nothing to original. heard they aren't that great live, but have never seen em.

also that music video they made....o my o my.

AND MERGED

DearJenny 06-19-2006 01:58 PM

Honestly, thats typical talent for someone from southeast michigan, I can find that at any of the local shows on any given weekend.

ish 06-20-2006 12:58 AM

Yeh I have a few of their albums, can't think of the name of them off the top of my head coz I'm not really into them but I still have some albums

The Dave 06-20-2006 02:03 PM

I just got their newest album All's Well That Ends Well, and it's pretty good, I like how all of their songs don't sound the exact same like some "hardcore" bands, coughComeBackKidcough.

DepthsOfDreams 06-20-2006 05:14 PM

They have gotten better, when they were called The Chiodos Bros they sucked, but All's Well That Ends Well is a good album.

Kripes 06-26-2006 02:42 PM

"The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined" is a cool song.

Glassjaw Fan 06-27-2006 03:56 AM

didnt see this thread , they are a great band and their breakdowns are awesome. my favourite song is either "all nereids beware" or " baby , you wouldnt last a minite on the creek"

Where do you live?
Because I can't find shows that good every night.
And also because you might live near me.

Levithan 06-27-2006 01:20 PM

The most over-rated hardcore band out at the moment. The vocals are annoying and the guitar work it sketchy

The Dave 06-27-2006 02:42 PM

I enjoy the vocals, you can actually tell what he's saying and it's easy to listen to, atleast for me it is. Instruments are average though.

holdfasthope 06-27-2006 10:52 PM

im a big fan, i like the vocals alot and the use of keyboard. its rad. my fav song is " baby , you wouldnt last a minite on the creek

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-28-2006 12:37 PM

I like the intro to "The Words Best Friend Become Redefined". I figured it out on guitar yesterday. Other than that though.....meh. They're alright...as I said before...nothing that I would go crazy for.

Trauma 06-28-2006 11:29 PM

Pull-offs on drop d.
Seriously though, where does this guy--> PipersLabyrinthX live?
I've never known someone on MB from MI..
:(

swim 06-29-2006 07:35 AM

She lives right outside of Detroit I thiink.

Trauma 06-29-2006 06:01 PM

Me too.

koRnslave 10-08-2006 07:06 PM

I agree with what is said, Alls well and Ends well is great...I'm a big heavy metal fan so surprisingly I like Chiodos.

sleepy jack 10-08-2006 07:10 PM

One of my favorite bands next to Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail and Silverstein.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 10-08-2006 07:12 PM

Yeah I'm a huge fan of KoRn and Slipknot, and you know all those sick METAL bands, but these guys are just totally rockin out and shiz.

Blain 10-08-2006 07:38 PM

Dude wtf? That was uncalled for, he said he liked metal and it was a surprise that he liked this band. Theres no need for that sh*t and you seem to do it constantly.

enemyat_thesix 10-10-2006 07:35 AM

"How could you like a band with a fat keyboardist?"

-Vocalist of HORSE, on Chiodos.

He also established a Chiodos t-shirt exchange program, in which you bring your Chiodos shirt(s) to a HORSE show and trade them in for a HORSE shirt.

"We'll even burn it for you!"

A_Perfect_Sonnet 10-10-2006 02:40 PM

They then sell those Chiodos shirts back to Hot Topic, calling them a "concert wear series" for double the price.

Trauma 10-10-2006 05:29 PM
