80s had it all. End of Glitter/Glam, the height of New Wave, beginning of Alternative. EVERYTHING, and in my opinion, just about the best of everything. I'm a little 80s child.

The 60s...the genesis of pop music as a true artform.

Id go for two separate periods - Late 60s/Early 70s and the Mid 80s. The late 60s saw the emergence of Hendrix, The Who, Led Z and all of the Beatles better work. The 80s because bands like the Cure, Smiths and other New Wave bands were emerging and bands like the the Stranglers were taking on a new sound.
