Though Bellamy claims to not be influenced by Yorke at all and that his main influence is Jeff Buckley, who is also Yorkes biggest influence vocally... So it's probably just a coincidence that they sound so damn alike.
Really, Buckley is, that gives them some points in my book.

Any other good influences?

I'm tired of all this Muse hate. And some of the things said about them here are wrong.

Anyone who thinks they are a Radiohead ripoff clearly hasn't actually listened to them. Bellamys and Yorkes vocals are kinda similar, but thats just because they share similar influences. Bellamy is more influenced by Jeff Buckley and Freddie Mercury than anyone else. And it's not hard to tell.

The truth! I know its fashionable to hate Muse but it gets a bit boring hearing the same argument over and over again.

I hate Muse. My reasons? Nothing to do with them supposedly being or not being a Radiohead ripoff. I hate them because the music makes me feel sick. It makes my stomach churn. The bombastic, over-bloated theatricality of the vocals coupled with the horrid neoclassical motifs/licks/riffs come together to form some of the most repulsive, repugnant sounds I've ever had the displeasure of having to hear. This is a band I tried hard to like, to little or no avail.

To their credit they tried to change things up a bit on Black Holes And Revelations. Supermassive Black Hole has some interesting ideas going on, and Starlight, while irritating, is certainly a good pop rock track. Some of the other songs though were just poo. Invincible, Knights Of Cydonia, bah, I don't even want to remember. But aside from those mishaps, BH&R is their best album to date and almost redeems them from the abortion that was Origin of Symmetry.

muse to me just sounds too mainstream and too bland... and lyrically i think there is absolutely no contest, Yorke completely rapes him in that category

Aside from what I said earlier, once again I don't even think Radiohead vs Muse is a good comparison. They do not make the same kind of music. It's that simple. There is virtually nothing in common between them.
