How? What, does music HAVE to be clean, cut, and easy to listen to? Or does it just have to have generic power chord progressions with annoying vocals to be music?

Then you're an idiot.

Metal take's as much talent as anything. I don't care for a lot of types of music, but I know they're music.

If you're talking about the vocals, they take extreme amounts of talent that I would like to see you, or a normal person pulling off. Here is an example of an amatuer: YouTube - Death Metal Vocal Sampler #1 .

That takes a lot more talent than you'd relize. If you say thats just random screaming:

Couldn't have said it better.

Adding on; If you were to look at a SOAD guitar tab and then look at a Necrophagist tab, you'd see how much SOAD pales in comparison. Not saying that technical ability overrides EVERYTHING, but in this case, I'd prefer Beneath the Massacre or Dying Fetus over SOAD.

Default **** Yeah

Not as good has classic metal, but still kicks ass.
Chop Suey is the weirdest song i ever heard, yet it rocks

What's actually happening with SOAD? Are they still together? Didn't Serj release a solo record (the track I heard sounded a whole lot like SOAD to me though...). Just curious as Hypnotize and Mezmerise, as imperfect as they were, were two of my favourite albums of 2005... kinda hoping the band didn't run out of steam...

they had said that they were going on a break for probably at least 3 years as serj was focusing on his solo stuff and daron and john are doing scars on broadway. both efforts have a system element to it. both are pretty good but i can't wait to see what they put out when they come back

Great to hear they didn't bite the dust... I thought that the Mezmerise / Hypnotise twins showed a great deal of accomplishment and promise for the future all in one. Their music may not be all that new original, but for my mind it certainly stands out (and head and shoulders above) a good deal of the hard rock out there at the moment... There's no cloying "yeah I am tough, look at my tatts but listen to my heard bared out in my songs" type mentality to their music - there's a strong political focus and they have unique angles, encompassing other culture's musical styles.

A band with alot going for it - and I am very pleased to hear they aren't done yet. Good news.

Default System of a Down might reunite!!!!

wutup people Im new and I feel like this is news that needs to be spread I am a big System fan; Ultimate Guitar had an article as well as metalunderground but Im too new to post links
Basically Shavo hinted at a reunion on his twitter and the band has stated numerous times now would be around the time if they ever got back together All I know is if it happens Im getting tickets ASAP cause they will sell out quick and who knows how long they will stay together
Anyone else stoked for this possibilty?
Edit:If someone could find and post a link that would be great
