Every one always rave about Toxicity but in my opinnion the self titled album is just a notch better

I don't agree... the self titled album was great, but it feels like a bit of aared down Toxicity in places.... to me the band had found more of it's personality and flair by the time Toxicity was recorded...

I am of the opinion that Hypnotize/Mezmerize is their best work. If I had to pick one out of those two it would be Hypnotize. They had a sound way different than their self-titled by then though.

Probably one of the first bands to get me into the rock/metal scene as a kid.

Only purchased 3 of their albums: Toxicity; Hypnotize and Mesmerize. Felt Hypnotize was the album for me - Attack, Hypnotize and Lonely Day were all songs that I listened to daily, and fell in love with.
Toxicity was the next album I got by them. Once again I was impressed with their work. Chop Suey, Aerials, Prison Song ATWA, and of course, Toxicity, were all great songs.
Then I got my hands on Mesmerize. I had high expectations for the album, seeing as the first two I purchased left me with a smile on my face, but I soon realised this wasn't the one for me. The songs sounded bland, with the exception to B.Y.O.B..

Today the band is still a good listen to. Although I've drifted towards other genres, it's good to return to your roots once in a while. I'll certainly have to give their other two albums a try.

Personally i thought Hypnotize was pretty poor. I liked the debut, Toxicity and thought Mezmerize was a great album too. I used to play it alot when it came out. Hypnotize was such a let down though.

I dont listen to much SOAD these days.
