Need some good bands.

Im just running dry on music to listen to, and I wasnt sure where to look. Im going to go ahead and post some music I like listening to, and maybe some of you guys can help me with some new bands to check out!

I like

Audioslave
Dave mathews
Flaming Lips
Mars volta
Red hot chili pepers
oasis
porcupine tree
radio head

I know that is a wide variety of music, but its sort of in the nice rock beat without screeming vocals genre :P

Any help would be great! :)

Laces Out Dan! 07-09-2006 07:51 PM

You'll like muse

Reznorslave 07-09-2006 07:52 PM

Muse should handle the Radiohead in you while travis will come close to Oasis and Modest Mouse could go along with almost any of the bands you posted except for the chili peppers. Have you ever listened to any Faith No More? If not, add that to your list!

Rummity 07-09-2006 07:53 PM

Faith No More? Nope never heard of them, going to go listen to some on itunes/pandora ;)

tdoc210 07-09-2006 07:53 PM

dude porcupine tree
yes
king crimson
rush..(insert prog band here)

hoss diggity 07-09-2006 08:14 PM

if you try faith no more "epic" is a great song to listen to

Rummity 07-09-2006 08:21 PM

Any classic cd's for those bands you mentioned I should check out? So I dont end up with the dud :P

Reznorslave 07-09-2006 08:22 PM

Muse-Absolution
Faith No More-The Real Thing or Angel Dust

Rummity 07-09-2006 08:30 PM

Hehe, ok now I have a different, off topic question.

My friends and I usually play a soundtrack when playing CS or Halo, and we ened to add some new songs to our repitoir (Sp?) It consists of all the cheesy, overused songs to get your blood pumping, but were getting bored and we need some new ones.

We usually listen to:

Kill bill theme
Push it to the limit
Eye of the tiger
Gonna fly now
Livin' on a prayer

You get the idea of what we listen to, any other songs like that you can think of? :)

hoss diggity 07-09-2006 08:34 PM

welcome home by coheed and cambria

hoss diggity 07-09-2006 08:46 PM

Twistershift 07-10-2006 04:42 AM

Not necessarily as "cheesy" as some of the ones you mentioned, but guaranteed to get you going:
The Prodigy
Ministry
Pitchshifter
Gravity Kills
KMFDM
Just some suggestions....

Rummity 07-10-2006 06:13 AM

Thanks, check those out in the morning :)

Jump- Van Halen

I suggest to try a nice new genre of music too, go listen to some screaming women, like L7.

Damn, I'm surprised you never heard of them!!!Maybe you heard them once or twice, but forgot their name or who they were?

Anyways, they are a decent band, but here's a wise tip for you to be able to stand them and enjoy their music more...
...mute the voice, period...lol!!!

Merkaba 07-10-2006 11:50 PM

Motorhead - Overkill

That song is off the charts. Though liking Lemmy seems to be hard for some. Check it anyway, 3 segments to this 5 minutes, each segment better then the last.

Though it's not garanteed you will like either of these bands... Their approach and song structure is similar to TMV, though not as aggressive.

Yeah, very good list. Godspeed you! Black Emperor is a great band, definately check that out if you like deep stuff.

Whaaaattt? You think Mike Patton's vocals are bad?

Perhaps some of them might seem a bit strange at first, but he's probably the most versatile vocalist I've ever heard.

I agree: His style is a little eccentric, but FNM with a "normal" singer would sound wrong.:)

Yeah, it's kind of annoying and froggy which in my opinion interferes with the actual music, which is pretty good.I think his voice is froggy and immature, but I don't mind if others think he might be good...that's their opinion, ya see?Anyways, glad to see that you're an Opeth fan...
...they are greatness all around.

Juggalo4life88 07-11-2006 08:39 PM

Yo, if you want to hear some great fingerwork on the guitar and hear great riffs, check out Three Inches Of Blood. They have awesome ways of playing and the lead singer has very AC/DC like voice. They caught my attention as well as a few friends of mine.

riseagainstrocks 07-11-2006 09:31 PM

lol, it's not AC/DC at all. Powermetal through and through

Juggalo4life88 07-11-2006 09:35 PM

no, but it's the best comparison for singing voices. But they definatly are a powerhouse for music. I love the way they play. And the lyricseven though they portray ancient warfare and mythalogical themes sometimes, are very thought out. Great band to rock out too.

Stuff like Straovarious, The Mars Volta, Dragonforce, possibly HORSE the Band. Canon Rock by JerryC always seemed like a good soundtrack song to me, but seriously Satisfaction - Who Made Who is the song that gets my blood pumping.

boo boo 07-11-2006 09:55 PM

Pattons vocals on Mr. Bungles s/t are f*cking hilarious.

bungalow 07-11-2006 09:57 PM

Modest Mouse

Merkaba 07-11-2006 10:05 PM

Aiden

Uglycasanova 07-11-2006 10:08 PM

Is this still for playing games to? Bungalow why are you suggesting Modest Mouse? Those aren't songs to kill to.

bungalow 07-11-2006 10:10 PM

Modest Mouse is just a really great band that everyone should listen to all the time.

Uglycasanova 07-11-2006 10:15 PM

It's my favorite band, Custom Concern just doesn't get me in the mood to pwn azz in Halo.
