Another kind of Top 10.

It's pretty tricky for someone with as wide a collection of mine to put up even a top 10 band list, let alone favorite albums, so I decided to make a list of top 10 shock band albums.

Let see what your choices are.In the meantime, here's mine...

Shock Albums:

1. W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P.
2. W.A.S.P. - The Last Command.
3. Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry.
4. Alice Cooper - Mascara & Monsters.
5. Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet.
6. Marilyn Manson - Portrait Of An American Family.
7. Marilyn Manson - A.C. Superstar.
8. Type O Negative - The Least Worst Of.
9. W.A.S.P. - Inside The Electric Circus.
10. Marilyn Manson - Holywood.

Your taste in music is eerily similar to my own.

Blain 07-15-2006 01:18 AM

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Linkin Park - Meteora
Disturbed - Sickness
Adema - Insomniacs Dream
Nickelback - Silver Side Up
Nickelback - All The Right Reasons
Mudvayne - Lost and Found
Fort Minor - The Rising Tied
Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish and Hotdog Flavoured Water

nice list.

I'd have to put Green Day's American Idiot album on ehre only because it was shockingly horrible.
And Love and Rocket's So Alive album because I wasn't quite prepared for a lot of what I've heard. Although the album has grown on me these past few years.

Great job at listing shock band albums. Really. Good job at completely missing the point.

The Ten Thousandth Fist 07-15-2006 08:41 AM

Good thing I didn't post yet. Someone mind clearing up exactly what "shock band albums" are for me (and Raine, apparently)?

swim 07-15-2006 09:37 AM

Bands that use shocking antics during their live shows. Blood, self mutation, nudity, little animals dying and things of the sort.

MURDER JUNKIE 07-15-2006 10:52 AM

No one has mentioned GWAR, Bad Luck 13,or GG Allin yet

SHAME!!! :nono:

I would have thought it meant your 10 most unusual albums. So if your a massive fan of Metallica, than saying you have a britney spears album would be a shock.

When you speak in "eerily" terms, it's hard to decide whether to judge that as good or bad.I'll judge it as good, peace.

And to the person who mentioned G.W.A.R., yes, I've gotten dirty many times at their shows and they make their own costumes and the such.Still, they aren't in my top 10 favorite shock band albums and that's why I atleast didn't mention G.W.A.R., ya see?

No, I meant "your favorite (as in best) shock rock albums that you own."That's why artists such as these would be mentioned:

-Alice Cooper.
-Iggy Pop/Stooges.
-W.A.S.P.
-Cradle Of Filth.
-Marilyn Manson.
-Twisted Sister.
-Type O Negative.

Maybe you'd like to change your list now?:usehead:

Yes, I said to do your "Top 10 shock rock albums", but I guess I could give you a break since it's your 1st post.Plus the band you mentioned is supposed to be Killswitch Engage, not "Engaged". kindred!!!:usehead: It would be suffice to atleast correct your post though, cheers!!!

AGGHH! I'll take it.

I'd say Slipknot was one.. Manson takes the cake though.

Anyone think Korn by Korn was out there when it first came out?

Nothing shocks anymore.

What are you mentioning Korn for?Do you think they were/are shock rock or something?

And don't get me wrong, I like Slipknot too, but seeing how they all of a sudden changed and/or went downhill after making 2 good albums is/was quite a letdown for me.The same can be said for Disturbed.Their first 2 albums are pretty good and then the third album seems like it was made specifically for radio, not quality musical integrity or diehard fans.Just my opinion though...
...buy the albums and listen to Disturbed's and Slipknot's radio hits if that is what you desire, cheer!!!

I think they'd fit more in a Goth/Punk-rock style.I think they mainly just had an attitude and slightly Goth energy to their basic, punk-rock styled music.I'm not saying they weren't great or anything (they were), yet they still don't come up when I (or apparently anyone else on here) thinks of shock-rock.Call them your favorite shock-rock band though, I don't mind.

Spike*Spiegel 07-26-2006 04:27 PM

goth didnt exist when they were popular. although you have a point about them being punk, theyre still in the pop/rock section at the local borders books. therefore i win.

Borders books, Pop-rock...Get a life, fella!!!

And you win what? You didn't prove they're an ultimate shock rock band, so if anyone has won this discussion, it was me.Nowadays anything with some kind of rock and/or pop style to it is usually found in the pop-rock section of basic music stores.Even most hard-rock and punk-rock could be found there.Metal usually isn't found in that section though, but that's only because metal is usually more explicit and extreme/shocking than any type of punk-rock or even hard-rock band, ya see?Once again, you proved yourself wrong, kiddo.:usehead:

The only shock about slipknot is how people can even listen to them and call them good.

May I remind you that you had Twisted Sister on your list.

Although I guess you could include them if your idea of shocking is a frontman who looks like Bette Midler with a bad hangover.

Yes, I did!!!What's your point, kiddo?Twisted Sister is shock rock, plain and simple. They don't dress up like that in their normal lives, they simply dress up and put on a wild and crazy show with a dark, "twisted" theme for their fans at the concert. In other words they do a shock rock theme at their shows just like Alice Cooper would do at his.Alice Cooper and Twisted Sister are some of the leaders of the shock rock style and I'm SHOCKED...lol...if you think any of them weren't!!! By the way, youngster, Dee Snider was one of the few metal artists that went against the PMRC and won!!!Yes, he beat the PMRC and that's a fact, ya ignorant ja(ka$s!!!

For more facts and info on the shock rock/metal band Twisted Sister, don't just take my words, read this...

'I Wanna Rock'

Yeah that was real shocking

Raiding your mothers make up case & making dumb singalong teenage anthems wasn`t shocking in the 80s , Slade & Mud were doing that over a decade earlier......Dad.

SHE doesn`t need to prove anything. You said name bands you consider shock rock & so she did. If you are going to invite people to post their "OPINIONS" you have to expect ones you don`t agree with. You think by calling her names she`s going to think 'Oh no I was wrong , I must bow down & worship the shock rock oracle known as Wild7Dustr"

You all have alot to learn about music and common sense.Twisted Sister is nowhere near my favorite band, I simply mentioned them because they are shock rock and that's a fact, you twisted...lol...jacka$ses!!!

I let everyone voice their opinion and even said that I was fine with whatever bands they mentioned, but when you guys are wrong (like right now throughout this thread), you should go on with your life and admit your mistakes instead of continually cryin' about it and getting mad at me, ya see?

And of course someone thought that I put down Borders, which is also untrue.I like and respect Borders, but they are NOT the definition of a heavy metal and shock rock record store, period!!!So in conclusion I'd like to say something that Twisted Sister once mentioned to the unwise "characters" trying to cry over the truth/what I say...
...You're gonna burn in hell!!!

you seem to be lacking in common sense and your full of ignorance as well.
You don't have to let us do anything. We can voice our opinions without the likes of you letting us.
And even if we're wrong, don't feel the need to try and correct any of us especially since you're the most wrong person in this arguement and thread.
need I remind you that put Slipknot down as a shock band.

And I don't know what part of the world you live in (although I imagine you live in a box) Borders does house a very wide collection of music from most genres, and whatever they don't have on the shelves they can definitely order for you.

And as for the burn in hell bit:
I might burn in hell but you'll get roasted bitch.

Well considering in your mind it`s still 1987 and the only type of music that exists is rock i`ll pass on that thanks.

Yeah, it's like you to pass on things or give up on them, huh?I listen to more than rock and metal, so I obviously have an open mind towards any style of music.I'm a musician that finds greatness in many different styles, but let me tell you, you don't have to be an experienced musician like me to have an open mind about good music, kiddo. So just get a life and quit contradicting yourself!!!I don't give a damn what a sh1thead like you would listen to, so once again, just burn in your lonely little hell!!!

Well if you are so open minded and as smart as you think you are don`t you think it`s a bit of a shame that the only thing you seeingly do here is come out with insults so dull that a 7 year old would think twice about using because they make them look stupid?

You'd suck at being a lawyer. I hope you neevr venture into the profession
1) whether you barely mentioned slipknot or not, you still mentioned them.
And you did categorize them as a shock band.
2) You blatantly dissed Borders and told another user that they know nothing about the rock genre because they buy albums from Borders.
3) Go crawl back under the rock from which you came.
