Wikipedia isn't a legit source when it comes to genre, it can be edited by anyone.

Mmm, but there are seriously people who live on Wikipedia and jump at an article as soon as someone edits it. You just have to look at the discussion page of any article to see that there are 10 people ready to fix it at any one time. Still, I wouldn't use Wikipedia for a research paper... universities don't tend to like that.

I guess Bane of Your Existence might have to settle for the word of people in this matter, because I can't be arsed looking for a proper source which concurs. Thrash metal is a metal genre, but it is very influenced by punk rock, and tends to be more complex. The punk/thrash similarities can be especially seen in some bands like Municipal Waste, Cro-Mags etc. Both genres tend to have similar aspirations.

Well, wikipedia is a more legit site than say.... I dunno, HERE? or any other music forum filled with just as many idiots, except in this case no one will bother to clean up the mess.

My favourite genre is extreme symphonic black epic power core doom metal. It pwns all other genres.

I'm generalizing. When I say idiots, I mean people, not anyone specific.

And what do you mean "get me far?" Is there some kind of competition here I'm not aware of?

I knew a guy that edited Wikipedia. He didn't know **** about what he edited, just asked for sources. So common mistake that the population makes, wiki will too.
