My second fav is Prog Metal, though it still should be said that a good deal of what is labeled Prog Metal is neither progressive or even that heavy.
I'm surprised you hate Megadeth. The vocals are an acquired taste, but I think they transcend thrash and apply more structure/flair to it. They seem more progressive than a lot of other thrash.

I find the guitarwork to be very tasteful. Bass+drums=good as well.

And I think it's pretty amazing that Mustaine can sing while being such a demonic guitarist at the same time.

Because it's not as mind-numblingly dumb as power metal?

And because you don't have to be a metal head to enjoy it, you just need to have smoked weed at some point in your life.

Probably doom or thrash. Those are the only two styles I listen to with regularity.

I'm highly surprised that doom is winning - that wouldn't normally happen. But that's a good thing seeing as doom is my favourite genre.

It is quite a diverse genre.

Death metal. Death-thrash, death-black, death-doom, death-grind, and what have you.
