You have to be kidding me. The animation style of anime for the most part is unique to Japanese culture, its very different from American animation. You'd have to be completely stupid not to realise that.
If anything, we have ripped off Anime more than they ripped us off. This is especially noticible in shows like Teen Titans, Avatar, Totally Spies and to some extent even The Boondocks.

They're still drawing Betty Boop, Japan still thinks its one gigantic big-titted-version-of-a-failed-adult-Disney, and I'll be damned if people grunting for a half an hour is entertainment.

Ok. Something tells me you watched maybe 3 or 4 Dragon Ball Z episodes and then decided to base your opinions on the whole genre of Anime entirely on that.
The range and styles of Anime is pretty diverse. You just have to know where to look.
I doubt you have seen FLCL, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost In The Shell, Cowboy Beebop or Excel Saga. These shows have absolutely nothing in common and are devoid of the cliches present in shows like DBZ, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon and what not.
And of course Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Katsuhiro Otomo and Satoshi Kon are among the best animators in the world.
You know nothing of Animation.
