No it is because I am a Freshman in high school and I am considered anti-social because when I am around my friends I listen to my Ipod and act like I am listening.

I'd join you in discussing good anime but frankly they don't exist. Japan sucks at cartoons.

I edit a greatest animated movies list for another forum.

I know a lot more about Animation and its history than you do. ;)

Not that it matters, both pwn Indie to an incredible degree.

So just admit that Japan rips off old American cartoons pretty consistently? They're still drawing Betty Boop, Japan still thinks its one gigantic big-titted-version-of-a-failed-adult-Disney, and I'll be damned if people grunting for a half an hour is entertainment.

There was one show that I almost sort of liked called Nobody Can Stop The Ping Pong Club, but the fact that it was a blatant Beavis And Butthead clone made it slightly dissatisfying, especially since it had a touch of Japanese humor which I typically don't find funny.

Watch Monster because it is original. It is about a guy who loses everything because as a doctor he saves a young kid over the ambassador or something like that. Then when the kid is all grown up he finds out that the kid is a neo-nazi so he tries to stop the kid from corrupting everything.

You have to be kidding me. The animation style of anime for the most part is unique to Japanese culture, its very different from American animation. You'd have to be completely stupid not to realise that.

If anything, we have ripped off Anime more than they ripped us off. This is especially noticible in shows like Teen Titans, Avatar, Totally Spies and to some extent even The Boondocks.

Ok. Something tells me you watched maybe 3 or 4 Dragon Ball Z episodes and then decided to base your opinions on the whole genre of Anime entirely on that.

The range and styles of Anime is pretty diverse. You just have to know where to look.

I doubt you have seen FLCL, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost In The Shell, Cowboy Beebop or Excel Saga. These shows have absolutely nothing in common and are devoid of the cliches present in shows like DBZ, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon and what not.

And of course Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Katsuhiro Otomo and Satoshi Kon are among the best animators in the world.

You know nothing of Animation.

I've actually seen FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, and most NGE (haven't seen the last 2 dvds or the movies and don't really care to). By Ghost In The Shell do you mean the movie or one of the series? I'll admit to not seeing Excel Saga, because I've honestly never seen it.

I live in a household of whapanese kids, seeing animu ***gotry is inevitable.

boo boo 08-02-2007 08:51 AM

Stop saying Animu and Whapanese, those stopped being clever a long time ago.
